QUEZON CITY — Author and entrepreneur Dr. Michael V. Maranan recently launched four books on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and professional experience at Max’s Restaurant, sharing lessons from his career in customs brokerage, logistics and business.
The launch, titled “Four Journeys, One Shared Moment,” featured "From Eight to Infinity: Secret Stories and Lessons from the Life of Dr. Mike Maranan," "Confessions of a Licensed Customs Broker," "The Business That Fits You," and its Tagalog edition, "Ang Negosyong Swak Sa ’Yo."
Drawing from his professional experience and personal journey, Maranan said the books are intended to help aspiring entrepreneurs understand business ownership, financial literacy and the realities of building a sustainable enterprise.
The quadruple release represents years of hands-on professional expertise, personal reflection, and a steadfast commitment to inspiring the next generation of Filipino leaders and entrepreneurs.
Empowering the youth through financial literacy
During the event, Maranan addressed the critical role of financial literacy in preparing young minds to navigate the complexities of the modern economy. He strongly advocated for integrating financial education directly into the Philippine academic curriculum.
“It is the only way for us to succeed — by helping our fellow Filipinos,” Maranan emphasized.
“The pandemic taught us how we can survive by patronizing our local products. Thus, the youth must be educated on how to be enterprising and contribute to building a stronger economy for the future.”
As a seasoned entrepreneur himself, Maranan underscored the crucial role that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play in driving national development. He pointed out that MSMEs account for 99.6% of all business establishments in the Philippines, generate roughly 67% of total employment, and contribute approximately 40% to the country's economic output.
Through his new titles, Maranan aims to demystify business ownership and supply chain logistics, giving aspiring founders actionable tools to turn ideas into sustainable ventures.
