(UPDATED) Veteran journalist and TV Patrol anchor Karen Davila was honored as PFIP’s Choice: Ally of the Year at the Philippine Bahaghari Awards and Charity Gala 2025, held Friday night in Taguig City.
The recognition celebrates her unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community and her role in championing equality through media and advocacy.
“She’s very supportive of the community, and she’s vocal on providing equal rights to the community,” said PFIP Chair Angelo Camaya. “She also rallies equal rights through her programs. So we see and hear her advocating for the cause.”

In her acceptance speech, Davila delivered a heartfelt message that resonated deeply with the evening’s theme of inclusion and solidarity. She spoke candidly about the global challenges facing gender equality and the LGBTQ+ community.
“Gender equality in every shape or form in the world today is under siege,” Davila said. “In fact, the rights of many of our LGBTQ+ community members are at risk in different parts of the world.”
Her words struck a chord with the audience, many of whom have witnessed setbacks in rights and representation across various sectors. Davila emphasized the importance of empathy and respect, regardless of differences in belief or identity.

“All I ask is that we remember this: we have one Creator, and we always have to act with love, kindness, compassion, and respect for the dignity of others, even if we may not hold the same beliefs and if we may love differently from others.”
The Philippine Bahaghari Awards, organized by the Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP), recognizes individuals and organizations that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and beyond.
