All eyes were on Lucky Star Jeffrey Santos as he made his way to the "Kapamilya, Deal Or No Deal" stage to finally play as the game show's July 4 celebrity contestant after the Lucky Wheel landed on his assigned briefcase number, 14.
Unlike the celebrity contestants before him, the veteran actor stood out for his charismatic and composed approach to the game, confidently relying on his instincts from start to finish. Vowing to set the standard for how "Kapamilya, Deal Or No Deal" should be played, he jokingly declared, “Ako mag-se-set ng template.”
Looking back on the time when he and his younger sister, the “Queen of Pinoy Soap Operas” Judy Ann “Juday” Santos, still lived under the same roof, Jeffrey shared with host Luis Manzano how Juday developed a habit of leaving Post-it notes by the door. It became their special way of communicating whenever their busy schedules made it difficult to find time to talk in person.
Hoping to take home the coveted ₱1 million cash prize to transform a small property they purchased in Batangas into a cozy glamping destination, the celebrity player ultimately decided to keep his assigned briefcase, number 14, by his side throughout the game.
Staying true to his promise to comedian Long Mejia that he would choose him first regardless of the amount inside his briefcase, Jeffrey took it in stride when ₱125,000 became the first amount eliminated from the board. He then went on an impressive run by uncovering the three lowest amounts—₱1, ₱5, and ₱10—before revealing ₱250,000 with his final briefcase of the opening round.
Unfazed by the Banker's opening offer of ₱94,000, the actor stuck to his strategy of picking briefcases without hesitation, although it cost him the ₱500,000 prize in the second round. The Banker celebrated when Jeffrey went on to reveal the ₱100,000 and ₱150,000 amounts in the succeeding round.
Although he later eliminated the ₱50,000 amount from the board, the Banker's offers steadily increased—from ₱77,000 in the fifth round to ₱203,000 in the seventh. Jeffrey's chances of winning the elusive ₱1 million jackpot climbed to 50% after he successfully cleared most of the lower cash amounts from the board.
With only the ₱500 and ₱1 million prizes left on the board, the Banker had no choice but to present Jeffrey with a tempting offer of ₱477,000. Feeling the pressure begin to mount, he nervously quipped, “Teka lang, seryosong pera na ’to. Ito pag-aawayan na namin ng misis ko. Ito isyu ’to, teka lang!
Choosing not to let greed get the better of him, Jeffrey made the bold decision to accept the Banker's offer of ₱477,000 in exchange for whatever amount was hidden inside his assigned briefcase. Everyone was left stunned and speechless when it was revealed that the celebrity contestant had passed up the chance to take home the life-changing ₱1 million jackpot.
Still very much a winner in his own right, Jeffrey left the "Kapamilya, Deal Or No Deal" stage feeling satisfied and proud as he wrapped up his game with a message of gratitude: “No regrets. The Banker made quite the deal. It was quite the game.”
