Lucky Star Jannah Alanise couldn’t contain her excitement on the “Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal” stage after the Lucky Wheel landed on her assigned briefcase number 6, making her the special celebrity player for the game show’s July 19 episode.
In an entertaining introduction video, Jannah reflected on how she rose to popularity following her appearance on the “EXpecially For You” segment of “It’s Showtime.” The Showtime Online U host pursued her psychology degree at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), which she hopes to finish by September this year.
Since her assigned briefcase number had coincidentally contained only low cash amounts in previous episodes, Jannah decided to switch to briefcase number 10. She hoped the birth date of her pet, Leonardog (named after American actor Leonardo DiCaprio), would bring her good luck.
Sharing her plans for the coveted ₱1 million jackpot, Jannah told host Luis Manzano that she would put half of her potential winnings into her savings account as preparation for her future. She said she would use the remaining half to help struggling tricycle and jeepney drivers by covering their fuel expenses.
Playfully promising an entertaining episode, Jannah enthusiastically quipped to the Banker, “You’re gonna enjoy tonight, I bet you that!”
Staying true to her promise, Jannah had an eventful first round as she discovered that her original briefcase, number six, contained the ₱500,000 cash prize. Hoping to turn her luck around in the second round, Jannah was disappointed after opening briefcase number 19, which matched her birth date and contained ₱250,000.
Her streak of misfortune was briefly interrupted in the same round when she found the briefcase containing ₱1, sparing herself from going home as a “Pisonaryo.” Considered an unlucky number in some cultures, Jannah selected briefcase number 13 in hopes of eliminating a lower cash amount from the board. However, she was stunned when it was revealed that the briefcase actually contained the ₱1 million jackpot prize.
As she continued to fight for the highest remaining cash amount on the board, ₱150,000, Jannah felt her heart sink each time she lost the ₱100,000, ₱125,000, and ₱150,000 prizes in the succeeding rounds. After eliminating the ₱10 amount in the final round, Jannah was left with only the ₱25 and ₱400 cash prizes on the board.
Faced with the Banker’s final offer of ₱260, Jannah boldly turned down the deal and chose to see the game through until the end. Surprised by the outcome, Jannah hilariously lay on the stage as she laughed after discovering that her chosen briefcase contained only ₱25.
Hoping that she had fulfilled her promise of giving Kapamilya viewers an entertaining episode, the celebrity player expressed her gratitude and excitement, saying, “First time ko [r]ito, at sana naka-enjoy din lahat. … Manalo, matalo, masaya ako kahit anong mangyari. Thank you, Lord!”
