After risking his life on his very first mission as the newest assassin recruited by the covert group, Anino, which was to catch the notorious gold-smuggling syndicate leader Victor “Tigre” Zafra (JM de Guzman), Gabo (Coco Martin) met up with Uwak (Lao Rodriguez) and Lawin (Jojit Lorenzo) at a panciteria.
As they asked him about what happened and where Tigre was, Gabo told them that he had already captured their target yet managed to escape after someone came and repeatedly fired at him. They brought him inside the eatery, where they further interrogated him about his mission and reminded him how the group, especially their leader, “Paps” (Joonee Gamboa), had placed great trust and high expectations on him because of how huge and important the said assignment was.
When Gabo asked for the payment he had been promised, Uwak and Lawin reminded him of their deal—he would only be rewarded if he delivered Victor to them either dead or alive, or else he would receive nothing. Hearing this fueled Gabo’s frustration, as he felt deceived after risking his life and exerting tremendous effort in pursuit of completing the mission.
He tried to plead with them, repeating that he desperately needed the money for the urgent treatment of his beloved father, who remained in critical condition at the hospital. Lawin told him that as much as they would have wanted to help him, there was nothing they could do since he had failed his mission.
Wondering what would happen to him now, Gabo was advised by the two to wait for his next assignment and urged him to prove himself by doing better for him not to upset Anino anew. Left empty-handed while Uwak and Lawin casually enjoyed their meal, Gabo further expressed his dismay then stood up in a huff and stormed off.
