And in the inaugural episode of the newest season of the Sunday variety show we all loved over the past three decades, she captivated and energized the audience with a bold reinterpretation of the classic OPM rock anthem “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo” by Yano.
Dressed in a wine-red ensemble with a sleek brushed-up pixie cut, she transformed the song with soaring belts and vocal riffs, giving it a distinctly fresh and dynamic spin that left a lasting impression to the live audiences at the Araneta Coliseum who were cheering her on.
As soon as her solo number was over, Regine then called on new-gen male champions Marko Rudio, Reiven Umali, JM Yosures, and Khimo Gumatay to join her onstage as they performed together a medley of rock hits featuring “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls, “Sacrifice” by Creed, and “The Reason” by The Hoobstank.
