Wendy (Janice de Belen) chooses to make the right decision for Olsen (Kyle Echarri) in the finale episode of “Roja.”
While Liam (Donny Pangilinan) and Olsen face Emil (Joel Torre) for the last time, Wendy is seen smuggling the valuables that Emil and his armed men seized from the hostages. When Olsen discovers this, he convinces Wendy not to keep the valuables and to surrender them to the authorities.
However, Wendy argues that she sees this as a form of compensation for what the Roja family had done to them---taking advantage of their wealth at the expense of the unfortunate. After Liam persuades her, Olsen shares his own thoughts, saying they can earn money through legal means that would help them start anew.
“Pero, pag ang tao nawala, wala na. Hindi talaga babalik. Parang si Lolo Ben (Levy Ignacio). Paano kung maging mitsa pa ng buhay mo yan? Paano pag nakulong ka ulit?” These questions from Olsen make Wendy break down in tears. “Nay, sa tingin mo kaya ko pa ba yun? Kaya kong mawala ka sakin ulit?” Olsen reminds Wendy that what truly matters is for them to live together.
Liam adds that if he were in their situation, he would trade anything just to be with Greta (Lorna Tolentino) again. “Kaya, Tita Wendy, huwag niyo na pong hayaan masira ang pamilya mo, ang buhay mo, pangalan, dahil lang diyan. Hindi kayamanan ang nagpapayaman ng mundo; ang tunay na yaman ay ang paninindigan.” These striking words from Liam resonate with Olsen, and eventually Wendy surrenders everything to the two.
