After Uno (Joel Torre) held him captive, Macky (Kobie Brown) reflects on his mistakes and apologizes to his father in the January 9 episode of “Roja.” Captain Jacinto (Floyd Tena) faces the media and the families of the victims of the siege, who are desperately seeking updates about their relatives being held in the resort. Jacinto tries to reassure them, “Nasa pangangalaga na ng mga pulis sa isla ang mga pamilya ninyo. Nag-deploy na rin kami ng karagdagang rescue units para ma-evacuate na silang lahat.” But the families remain unconvinced by his words.
Senator Maristella (Lloyd Samartino), Macky's father, arrives. The families seek his help, to which he can only respond, “As you know, nasa isla din ang anak ko. We have to trust our police. I'm sure Captain Jacinto and his team are keeping our families safe.” In the middle of his conversation with the families, the senator receives a phone call from an unknown number and quickly leaves.
Later, Senator Maristella meets with Dos (Marc Abaya), carrying bags of money. “Masunurin ka pala, Senator. Hindi ko na bibilangin ‘yong ambag mo. Basta't siguraduhin mong tama ‘yan.” Maristella assures Dos that he is giving them the exact amount of 100 million pesos they demanded. “Nasaan na ang anak ko?” he asks. Dos then shows him live footage of Macky, bleeding from Uno's assault.
With guns pointed at his head, Macky takes the chance to apologize to his father, “Dad, I'm sorry. Sorry sa lahat ng kagaguhan ko.” The senator reassures his son that his safety matters more than his mistakes, “Wala na akong ginawa kundi bigyan ka ng problema. I embarrassed you, I embarrassed the family.” Macky reflects on his mistakes and is clearly remorseful toward his father, promising him that he will change his behavior once he gets out of La Playa Roja.
However, Uno and Dos immediately cut off their conversation. Macky confronts Uno, asking what more he wants despite already receiving the ransom from his father. “Mga hayop kayo!” he cries, only to meet Uno's fury as the latter punches him in the face, “Bastos kang bata ka, ha!” Uno adds, “Isa pa, pera pa lang ang nabigay ng ama mo. May kulang pa.” He threatens Macky and leaves him behind.
