Just when Tanggol (Coco Martin) and his group thought that they'd found a new ally in Rockyboy Mondragon (Baron Geisler), who introduced himself as Bernard Aguirre, little did they know that he would be one of their nightmares. We witnessed how he betrayed them several times already, the latest of which happened in the January 7 episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” wherein Rockyboy carried out his deadly attack against Tanggol and his gang.
Wearing a beastly costume reminiscent of what serial killers usually put on to hide their identities, as well as brandishing various weapons, Rockyboy began by assaulting Tanggol’s friends one by one. Unfortunately for him, they were too strong that he failed to kill anyone from them.
Rockyboy seized the chance to attack Tanggol while he was defenseless, relentlessly striking him with a sledgehammer across various parts of his body, leaving him battered, bruised, and bloodied.
And in a recent video uploaded by CCM Film Productions across its social media platforms, actor Jojit Lorenzo and head writer En Villasis discussed how they mounted the nail-biting, grisly sequence of Miguelito’s fatal ambush against Tropang Tanggol in of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
En began by talking about Rockyboy’s portrayal of “Kamatayan,” or death himself, which they did by having him put on a costume inspired by popular serial killers that we’ve seen in movies, such as in the classic American slasher film “Scream.” He also explained how more personal this was to Rockyboy than his previous transformations into a wrestler and a cowboy when he preyed on innocent women, saying that it’s because he has “a score to settle” against Tanggol and his friends.
True enough, we indeed saw a different facet of Baron in this particular sequence as he succeeded in sending chills down the spines not just of his enemies, who were oblivious of the identity of the person attacking them, but of the viewers as well, as some probably found it difficult to watch.
“It will lead to a much bigger possible enemies, possible circumstances, [and] possible events na siguradong magpapabago sa takbo ng kuwento natin sa ‘Batang Quiapo,’” En stated.
Although their group had already faced various adversaries over the three-year run of the well-loved primetime series, seasoned character actor Jojit Lorenzo, who plays Tanggol’s best friend Enteng, imparted that their encounter with Rockyboy was completely different from the previous ones they had.
Unlike in their past skirmishes, in which they were aware of who their enemies were, they were faced with uncertainty this time since they didn’t know the identity of the person attacking them. And he thought that this refreshing take or angle in their fight scenes, which gave viewers a tinge of the “mystery-suspense factor,” might serve as a precedent for the upcoming scenes that we should definitely watch out for.

Since he has failed in finishing off Tanggol and his friends, what outrageous gimmick or strategy will Rockyboy do next to fulfill his mission? Is he going to succeed by that time?
