The 1950s were undeniably shaped by his music, blending country, R&B, and gospel. These tunes are what earned Elvis Presley the title “King of Rock and Roll.” His classic songs, paired with his striking style and looks of the time, made him one of the most legendary music artists up to this day.
His legacy even lived on the “YFSF” stage, where our favorite ka-Familiars gamely showcased their own take on Elvis Presley’s music. Check out these four performances truly rocked and rolled the stage as the artists brought Elvis Presley to life on “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”
Jed Madela (YFSF Season 1, 2015) - “Teddy Bear”
In the premiere episode, Jed transformed into Elvis Presley for a special performance of the 1957 hit “Teddy Bear.” He took on the complete Elvis look---from the iconic hairstyle to the white overalls, guitar, and microphone. His performance was nearly flawless as he sang with spot‑on vocal techniques and, of course, delivered Elvis’ classic dance groove.
Sam Shoaf (YFSF Kids Season 1, 2017) - “Jailhouse Rock”
Sam’s stage presence was instantly felt as soon as the first beat of the 1957 classic “Jailhouse Rock” dropped. He unleashed the performer in him, singing like Elvis while nailing the styling, nuances, adlibs, and more. Later, after the performance, Sam’s mother, Arnee Hidalgo, herself a talented singer, joined him onstage, and together they sang a snippet of another Elvis favorite, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”
During the jury’s comments, Judge Ogie Alcasid praised Sam for his commitment to the character, highlighting how he was able to put his own spin on transforming into Elvis. Judge Sharon Cuneta added that Sam consistently gives his hundred percent talent and effort every week. “Entertainment value‑wise… I appreciate that, natutuwa ‘yung mga audience sa’yo,” she remarked.
Lastly, Judge Gary Valenciano offered Sam advice on portraying performers who move a lot onstage. He emphasized how impressive Sam already is with his performance and noted that once he gets the right artist to transform into, “You’re going to really shine at your very best.” He added that he is confident Sam will continue to improve as the weeks go by.
Sam placed 6th at the end of the season.
Onyok Pineda (YFSF Kids Season 2, 2018) - “Teddy Bear”
The crowd was instantly in awe as Onyok slipped into character at the start of his performance. Singing “Teddy Bear” as Elvis Presley, Onyok looked like a mini version of the King himself---from the hairstyle and outfit to the way he moved onstage. The judges, watching from the side, couldn’t help but smile throughout his performance. After the song, Onyok even greeted everyone like Elvis, charming the audience even more.
For a seven‑year‑old, Onyok’s commitment to his craft was truly commendable, according to Judge Ogie. Even though he wasn’t born during Elvis Presley’s prime, Onyok did an impressive job of transforming into the King of Rock and Roll. Judge Sharon was full of admiration, expressing how much she enjoyed his performance, “Para sa isang bata… talagang inaral mo siya [Elvis],” she said.
Coach Jed Madela shared how happy he was with Onyok’s performance, noting his endless energy from rehearsals all the way to the stage. “Go lang nang go… keep on doing it, Onyok. Ipagpatuloy mo ’yan kasi I’m sure mas malawak pa ang magiging entablado mo. Kung hindi ka lang artista, magiging singer ka din,” he encouraged, praising Onyok’s potential.
Onyok placed 2nd at the end of the season.
Jason Dy (YFSF Season 4, 2026) - “Hound Dog”
It was no surprise that Jason Dy nailed yet another transformation, continuing to exceed expectations week after week. Performing the 1956 hit “Hound Dog,” Jason sang with uncanny similarity to Elvis and even moved onstage like the King himself. After his performance, Jason revealed that the prosthetics used to complete his Elvis look were the toughest he had ever experienced among his transformations---but he noted it was definitely worth it.
“Si Jason, laging magaling,” Judge Ogie opened his comments. “’Yung performance talagang on point… another fantastic performance,” he added. Judge Sharon Cuneta, meanwhile, noted that Jason is one of the most anticipated performers every week, “As usual, you gave us more than we expected. You always deliver more,” she praised.
Coach Klarisse De Guzman described Jason as a smart artist, “Parang wala kang hindi kayang gawin. Hindi madaling gayahin ang isang Elvis Presley, pero ‘yung ginawa mo kanina, wow. Kinaya-kaya mo lang.” Lastly, Coach Nyoy Volante remarked that it felt as though Elvis Presley himself was performing onstage.
It was proof that even though fully transforming into Elvis Presley is no easy feat, his music and performances still brought out the fun and groove in the audience---something he will surely be remembered for.
