“What Lies Beneath” is definitely not holding back, releasing more mind-boggling episodes that either surprise viewers with unforeseen twists or satisfy their hunches. One character whose boiling plans have yet to be unleashed—and who fans have been eagerly waiting to see—is Mel Barrera-Montenegro’s (Sue Ramirez) two-faced husband, Anton Montenegro (Jameson Blake).
In a Push TV interview, Jameson, who plays the show’s controversial celebrity and political heir Anton, cheerfully shared his thoughts on working with on-screen partner Sue and the mixed reactions his character has been receiving.
Having collaborated with Sue multiple times—particularly in “Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wifi” and “Flower Girl”—Jameson said it has always been a great experience. He highlighted their growth as an acting pair, noting how they consistently took part in different kinds of projects and concepts together.
“I’m happy that she’s my partner… I’m really comfortable with her, so it’s easier to do scenes with her,” he added, pointing out how their scenes in the series are emotionally heavy.
Given Jameson’s villainous character, some negative reactions are to be expected. When asked about viewers’ responses to Anton, the actor thanked them, mentioning how rewarding it is to read comments and reviews—good or bad—as it shows genuine engagement.
Jameson was also thrilled to see fan theories on who could be the real killer of Louisa Mae Soria (Mutya Orquia) as well as the appreciation of each characters’ stories, proving that viewers are now looking deeper into the narrative.
Speaking about his immersive portrayal of Anton, Jameson explained that it was one of the most challenging roles, testing his range as an actor. The character’s confrontational and easily angered nature is the complete opposite of Jameson’s soft-spoken personality.
“I really had to think na ibang tao talaga ako,” Jameson said, making sure to comment that he also had genuine fun playing the role.
