Over the past two months that “Sins of the Father” has been on air, we’ve certainly witnessed a number of unforgettable and exhilarating scenes. Among them was the “1 versus 100” sequence featuring Gerald Anderson’s character, Samuel Trinidad, singlehandedly fighting against the henchmen of the Rivera brothers, Roldan (Joko Diaz) and Jacob (JC de Vera), as their way of welcoming him to their group.
But prior to this, avid viewers of the series surely knew that Samuel actually had intense face-offs with Jacob and Roldan, which we collated in this edition of Kapamilya Toplist.
It all started when they discovered that Mike Trinidad actually opened a cryptocurrency account where he deposited all the money they had earned from the people they had scammed—and his son, Samuel Trinidad, knew about it.
Since then, the brothers did everything they could in order to gain access to that account—from hacking the laptop of Samuel and eventually hiring him to their company so that it would be easier for them to keep an eye on him and to hold him in their palms to abducting his unico hijo, King (Clave Sun), as their way of warning him about what they could do if he refused to cooperate with them.
Just when they assumed that Samuel would be frightened by what they had done, it was them who got scared instead as he threatened to kill himself just like what his father did. He reminded Roldan through a phone call that if ever that would happen, the crypto account containing all their money would be gone as well along with him. Thus, he advised him to convince them that his family would be safe rather than harming them and using them as pawns to get what they wanted from him.
Samuel had a number of heated spats with Jacob at the office, among which was when the former uttered insults against whoever the kidnappers of King were after the latter quizzed him if he knew the culprits behind his son’s abduction. Jacob also piqued Samuel’s ire during their exchange inside an elevator, wherein the former quizzed the latter about his wife and the reason why they’re not together.
Jacob further rubbed salt into Samuel’s wound by saying that it must have been painful to be abandoned by his wife for another man, which was exactly what happened to the latter after Leah (Shaina Magdayao), decided to break up with him to be with the former.
Following their squabble at the elevator hallway of their office after Jacob got irked by how Samuel looked at him when they crossed paths, the two were able to pour out their anger against each other through a sparring match.
Samuel then had a scorching confrontation with Roldan, wherein he told him that he already knew that it was him who was behind the abduction of his child in order for them to finally get ahold of the crypto account. Roldan was further enraged when Samuel only gave him access to one of the accounts where he kept a portion of the entire amount. Samuel did that to make sure that Roldan and Jacob couldn’t harass him, knowing how treacherous both of them are.
Roldan got furious at Samuel after he sent him a video exposing that it was him who was the mastermind behind the Yayaman Tayo Investment Fund. As Roldan confronted him at his office, Samuel told him that it was his way of warning him about what he would do if he still refused to let him join their group. Samuel even gave Roldan an ultimatum of eight hours to decide, since he actually didn’t care if he would get involved in the fiasco.
Just when Samuel assumed that Roldan and Jacob already folded to his request for them to be part of their group, little did he know that he was only tricked by them. After handing to them the flash drive that contained the addresses and seed phrases to all the remaining crypto wallets, as well as his phone where his confession video was stored, Jacob pointed his gun at him.
Samuel may be often alone in facing Roldan and Jacob, yet it’s truly amazing how he always exuded courage, determination, and strength despite the intimidation they pressed on him.
