After they were able to survive and escape from the Red Phoenix, Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) decided for him and Erika (Gillian Vicencio) to go straight to their house in Quiapo.
She was initially opposed to his decision, but he told her that they already had nowhere to go since he couldn’t face Tanggol (Coco Martin) yet due to their current situation. Besides, he knew that his father, Rigor (John Estrada), needed him, especially now that he’s living all by himself.
Santino tried to appeal to Rigor to let Erika stay at their house for the meantime, but Rigor highly objected to it since he owes her father, Mayor Roberto Guerrero (Albert Martinez), his reinstatement. A scorching argument sparked between Santino and Rigor, with the latter asserting to the former that he must respect her father and that it was Tanggol who killed David (McCoy de Leon).
In return, Santino maintained that it was the Guerrero scion, Miguelito (Jake Cuenca), who was really the culprit behind David’s tragic demise. Fatima’s (Andrea Brillantes) shocking pronouncement during Team Tanggol’s miting de avance was further supported by Erika’s revelation that her brother admitted to killing David, perhaps, as their way of sending Tanggol a chilling message.
This stirred Rigor, which gave him the idea of using Erika against her own family in order to avenge the death of David. From asking Santino to bring her back to the Guerreros, Rigor went on to tell him to keep Erika in their house until he gets to confirm what really happened to David. Santino entreated him not to get her involved, but Rigor told him to think of their family first.
