What was meant to be a simple lunch out between brothers Patrick (Joshua Garcia) and Matmat (Carlo Aquino) turns into a trio ‘date’ when Mia (Anne Curtis) insists on joining them. They end up at Maravida’s Original, a small eatery that Patrick and Matmat once frequented with their mother Tess (Meryll Soriano).
They order steaming bowls of ‘batchoy,’ every sip of which pulls Patrick back into bittersweet memories. Curious about why this place is their favorite, Mia asks, and Matmat recalls how Patrick loved the ‘batchoy’ here since they were kids, which is why Tess made it their payday ritual. Patrick hides his face as he sips the soup, not wanting them to notice his tears. But just as quickly, his sadness turns into laughter when Matmat lightens the moment with a joke about preferring ‘batchoy’ loaded with garlic, though it means brushing his teeth right after to avoid bad breath. Mia gazes at Patrick. Finally, she's seeing him laugh.
Soon, the rain begins to pour. The brothers share Patrick’s red umbrella while Mia trails behind with her black one. Together, Mia and Patrick escort Matmat to the jeepney stop on his way to his job at Jason (Francis Magundayao)’s restaurant. A flicker of sadness is seen in Matmat’s eyes as he watches the two, almost sensing that they’re headed somewhere else. True enough, Mia convinces Patrick to have coffee with her first even though he tries to excuse himself by saying he might be late for his hospital shift.
Later on, Matmat appears restless while working his shift at Jason’s restaurant. Jason casually asks if something’s wrong but Matmat brushes it off in silence.
