Louise Abuel and Bianca De Vera prove that wisdom doesn’t always come with age. Even in their youth, the two already carry themselves with a kind of eloquence and maturity that makes you pause and listen because their thoughts sound like free life advice you’d want to bookmark.
In this round of the "My Rules" Challenge on Kapamilya Chat, the “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” stars share their insights on career, friendships, and everything in between, which are so on point they speak not just to their fellow Gen Zs but to anyone who believes you’re never too young to know what truly matters.
Let's talk about curfews first, with Louise saying it was never really a strict house rule since his parents weren’t the type to impose one, so he learned to set his own limits and always make sure to head home early whenever he has work or big errands the next day because getting a full eight hours of sleep is non-negotiable for him. But even on regular days, the latest he stays out is only until midnight.
Bianca shares the same mindset in that she prefers to go home early if there’s work the next morning, so she can prepare and get proper rest. But if she knows she’s free the next day, she lets herself stay out a bit longer to enjoy and relax without worrying about waking up early.
When it comes to shopping, Bianca doesn’t try to hide the fact that she’s a shopping girlie through and through. “I love shopping!” she says, adding that the feeling hits different when she spends money she earned herself because it makes every purchase more satisfying. Louise, on the other hand, doesn’t do online shopping and doesn’t spend much time in malls either since it’s almost impossible to leave the mall without buying something, so he doesn’t risk impulse buys by only going when he’s already saved up for an item.
When it comes to friends, Louise doesn’t really have rules because for him everyone is welcome and he believes that the best friendships often grow from differences. “Hindi naman porke’t parehas kayo ng trip sa life magiging close na kayo. Minsan nga mas nakakatuwa ’pag magkaiba kayo ng trip sa life, parang may natututunan ka sa kaniya na bago at may natututunan siya sa’yo,” he explains. Bianca echoes his sentiment, adding that what really matters is you don’t compromise your morals or get swayed into the wrong path. And just like Louise, she believes that when it comes to connecting with people, opposites really do attract.
On choosing projects, even at a young age, Louise already knows the importance of saying no because not every opportunity is worth taking, and if a project doesn’t help him grow as an artist then he’s willing to turn it down. He must’ve picked up this lesson from his years of experience in the industry, having started out as a child star. Bianca’s approach is quite similar, saying she’ll take on projects as long as she feels they will help her grow and align with the career path she wants to follow.
