Just when David (McCoy de Leon) had already decided to have a change of heart and shift to the good side in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” by choosing all of a sudden to protect his older half-brother Tanggol (Coco Martin) from the imminent death that his debauched political rival Congressman Miguelito Guerrero (Jake Cuenca) was supposed to exact, he was unfortunately killed.
But prior to the tragic and shocking murder carried out by Miguelito and his henchmen, avid viewers of the longtime primetime drama would know that David had a discord with him, which had brought him to his demise. Now that he’s completely gone, let us revisit the 10 scenes that showed their intense clashes in this episode of Kapamilya Toplist.
The paths of David and Miguelito initially intertwined at a gambling hub wherein the latter challenged the former to play blackjack. David lost on the first round, which compelled him to bet his lawyer and partner-in-crime, Atty. Vera Saldivar (Maika Rivera) to Miguelito. The corrupt politician agreed to it, only to get disappointed in the end as David was able to defeat him and save Vera from becoming his ‘prey’ for that night.
Since Miguelito is the type of person who wouldn’t stop until he is able to achieve whatever it is that he wants, he asked for a rematch, and David willingly accepted it. As the latter already ran out of funds, he offered the mansion and ranch that he unlawfully acquired from the Caballero family, which the former accepted. After their game, Miguelito was able to take home the titles of the properties and even agreed to give his opponent P2 million after David asked for balato, or share of money given away as goodwill.
It was later on revealed that David and Vera actually tried to trick Miguelito by handing them fake copies of the titles. Unfortunately for them, Miguelito was able to figure it out, and true to his word, he indeed punished both of them for deceiving him. Miguelito began by harassing and terrorizing them during one of their confrontations, in which he challenged David to kill Vera and even shot him in the leg, probably as his way of reminding them what he could do once they attempted to betray him again.
In exchange for what they’d done to him, the Guerrero scion had them under his wing by hiring them to kill Tanggol. Even though he’s arrogant, David was apparently afraid and hesitant to accept Miguelito’s order, especially when he found out that it was none other than Tanggol, who has become his rival for the mayoral seat in the city of Manila.
As he retreated and refused to do what he had been told, David was punished by Miguelito as they returned to their hideout later that night by assaulting him and daring him to see how far his love of his brother and his conscience could take him.
And their most intense faceoff would be none other than the last time that they’d seen each other, wherein Miguelito and his henchmen were able to capture him as he tried to shoot Miguelito point-blank. Since there was nobody to help him at the time, it was easy for Miguelito to kill David by fatally stabbing him in his torso.
