Taking a break from the drama and action in ABS-CBN Studios’ newest primetime series the “Sins of the Father,” five of its stellar cast—namely Gerald Anderson, Jessy Mendiola, JC de Vera, RK Bagatsing, and Jerald Napoles—displayed their witty and playful facets during their stint in the second episode of “Rainbow Rumble,“ aired last Sunday, June 29.
At the end of their friendly competition, it was JC who made it first to the top and had the chance to proceed to the jackpot round, earning a total of P100,000 after he was only able to get five unique colors out of six in the “Rainbow Reveal” segment.
They may have lost the game, yet RK and Jerald were still all smiles and in joyous spirits when we caught up with them after the episode was shot.
RK, who took home a total of P20,000, said that he still felt like a winner because he obviously enjoyed the game so much. Jerald, meanwhile, who bagged P5,000, initially joked that he was upset and then went on to convey that it was just okay since nobody from them expected who would win, and the most important thing was that everyone had fun during the episode.
With regard to the part of the game they found the most difficult, RK recalled that he was already doubting if he would progress in the game when it was only him and Jerald who were left at the starting point. Eventually, he was able to step forward up to the middle of the pyramid after he correctly responded to several questions, including the few “tile breaker” bouts he had with Jessy that made her husband, Rumble Master Luis Manzano, violently react in jest. On the other hand, it was swiping swiftly for Jerald, which made him realize that he probably has heavy arms.
Aside from good vibes, laughter, and cash prizes, the players also went home with valuable takeaways. For RK, it would be to seize and enjoy the moment that he had with his castmates.
He stated, “Talagang present lang ako sa moment, ine-enjoy ko lang ‘yong company naming bawat isang cast and with Luis and Negi. Break din sa’min ‘to sa teleserye namin kasi sobrang intense ng mga eksena namin, so we needed ‘yong mga tawanan na gano’n para lang pagbalik namin sa work bukas, fully recharged kami.”
The same goes for Jerald, who, despite unleashing his competitive side, still made sure to enjoy the fun and awesome experience.
He might have appeared aggressive, but JC didn’t let pressure overcome him and indeed had fun all the time. The game champion said, “I think sa lahat ng contest kasi kapag inisip mo na kailangan kong manalo, kailangan ko talunin si ganito [o] si ganyan, nagkakaroon ng pressure. And then sa type ng mga contest na ganito, kailangan kalmado ka, kailangan nakakapag-isip ka clearly. So, that’s what happened to me kasi nag-eenjoy kami.”
JC also imparted that he didn’t feel nervous every time Luis asked questions since he heard each one of them loud and clear. It was really not his intention to win but to enjoy. So, for the next contestants, they may want to follow his indirect advice to “just have fun and be calm.”
When asked if he had any preparations, the talented actor shared that he actually didn’t prepare since he just went there to enjoy himself with no expectations that he would compete with his castmates. It just so happened that luck was on his side.
“That’s the beauty of the game. Kumbaga, kung na-feel mo na swerte ka at that moment, parang nag-a-attract ka e, nagma-manifest ka. So, paganda nang paganda ‘yong kilos mo. It just happened lang na ‘yong swerte ko nagtuloy-tuloy lang naman,” JC related.
The jackpot round may be the most nerve-wracking portion of the game, not to mention that he had a hard time responding to the last six questions, but he revealed that it was the “Rainbow Rumble” moment that he enjoyed so much as someone who loves challenges and made him more gigil to win.
He conveyed, “Feeling ko kasi from the very start pa lang ng contest, nag-manifest na ako ng ka-swertehan. So, parang nagtuloy-tuloy pala siya hanggang sa kahuli-hulihan. It’s just that kapag hindi talaga para sa’yo, hindi talaga para sa’yo. Pero, I still enjoyed [it].”
