For the past 15 years that she has been in the local entertainment scene, we can all perhaps agree that Melai Cantiveros has been one of the most adored Kapamilya celebrities ever since her victorious and remarkable stint in “Pinoy Big Brother Double Up.”
While she has been bringing good vibes and boisterous laughter to everyone watching her in the shows that she has starred in—via her innate humor and comedic chops, we all know that she’s also full of wisdom whenever she engages in serious talks.
And we were able to witness those two sides of her during her recent guesting on Kapamilya Chat, wherein she kept the conversation fun and candid as she responded to four thought-provoking questions about herself in the “Untold Questions Challenge.”
Given her gratitude and satisfaction with everything that has happened in her life since childhood, our beloved Kuantie Melai struggled to think of an answer regarding her biggest insecurity.
She initially said that it would perhaps be their family’s situation back then before she entered showbiz since she seemingly couldn’t help but compare the kind of life that she, her parents, and her siblings used to have with their well-off relatives then.
Nonetheless, that didn’t make her any less happy and contented at the time, further imparting that she actually used to envision herself living a simple life in the province as a dutiful homemaker to her future family. But, apparently, God has other plans for her, so she just has been availing herself of the slew of opportunities being bestowed upon her.
Thus, to answer the question, Melai simply mentioned her teeth, specifically her diastema (or the gap between her teeth), although she has been so proud of it since it has played a significant part in her branding and identity as a public personality.
She may have insecurities—just like some of us—yet she opts to not make those a big deal since she has been satisfied with her life, as well as reminds herself to be grateful for all the blessings that she receives.
Meanwhile, with regard to the last time she cried, the bankable host-comedienne confessed that it happened the night before the interview, which she blamed on hormones.
And lastly, when it comes to the greatest challenge that she faces at present, many can certainly relate that it would be how to handle the fear of losing her parents, as she realized that as her age continues to progress, her parents are also growing old. Thus, she couldn’t help but get anxious whenever she would receive a text or a call from her siblings, who have been taking care of their parents in General Santos City.
When asked how her mom reacts to her continuous success, Momshie Melai shared that her beloved Mama Virgie is actually super proud that she continues to bring joy to many people, as well as super grateful for the blessings that enable her to provide for their needs and even wants.
In connection to this, the gregarious host-comedienne recalled how her parents used to be in disbelief that she was able to make it to PBB Double Up and eventually won it. She went on to impart how amazed they are that she has remained in demand and popular through the years.
