Tagged as one of the industry’s top female performers and recording artists, Jona has been a household name ever since winning a reality singing competition in the mid-2000s. And in 2016, she made the big decision to transfer to ABS-CBN, which has allowed her to not only reintroduce herself but also showcase her singing prowess to multitudes of Kapamilya viewers and maybe even gain more followers.
It was also that same year when she became an official member of the “ASAP” family, entertaining and astonishing us with her soulful and powerful performances in almost every episode. Thus, she’s among the Kapamilya stars who imparted her fondest memories on the show, as well as her warmest greetings for her beloved “ASAP” fam for its 30th anniversary this 2025.
The proud member of Batch 2016 began by expressing her gratitude to the long-running Sunday all-star afternoon party. She said, “Thank you so much po sa ‘ASAP’ dahil nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon para i-share ang aking pinaka passion, which is my love for music. So, thank you, ‘ASAP’!”
When asked about what happened during her first day on “ASAP,” Jona recalled that it was a song number with Sarah Geronimo, Angeline Quinto, and Klarisse de Guzman. She went on to share that it was one of her most stressful moments on the show, too, as she remembered receiving her gown late for that certain production number, and she didn’t have any extra or alternative. But it ended up very well, and she was able to perform.
Meanwhile, with regard to her most memorable experience, she mentioned the two out-of-the-country shows of “ASAP.” Just in her freshman year as a Kapamilya, she was already able to join “ASAP in New York,” which was her first-ever out-of-the-country show. What made it more memorable for her was that they were joined by the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, which turned their production numbers really grand.
The second was “ASAP in Milan,” slated in 2019, where she got to sing the German song “Queen of the Night Aria” in front of a huge crowd. She recounted being so nervous at the time, yet she’s thankful that she was able to pull off that performance. As someone who’s into classical music, she was so delighted that the crowd enjoyed it and went wild upon hearing her version.
“To my ‘ASAP’ family, thank you so, so much sa mga unforgettable memories [and], of course, for giving me the chance to show my talent to the whole world. Maraming salamat din po sa love [at] support. Happy 30th, ‘ASAP’!” she capped off the video.
