It was indeed another thrilling action-packed week (February 3 to February 7) for avid viewers of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”!
First, we got to watch the suspenseful skirmish between David (McCoy de Leon) and Ramon (Christopher de Leon) as the former attempted to murder the latter. And second, we’d finally witnessed the highly anticipated sequences wherein the group of Tanggol (Coco Martin) didn’t only figure in a nail-biting shootout not only with the Mamba Cartel but also with the faction of Primo (Lito Lapid) and the NLEA—just like how the scheming General Augustus (Julio Diaz) had envisioned it to happen.
These scenes indeed earned praises from Kapamilya netizens not just because of how they were flawlessly and exceptionally executed, but also because of the astounding performances of the cast members, particularly the veterans Lito and Christopher, as well.
The previous week commenced with David riddling Ramon and his henchmen with bullets while hiding atop the hospital in his disguise. A shootout ensued between the two groups from which David had managed to escape despite being injured in his right leg. Little did David know that Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) spotted him while processing the documents of Rigor (John Estrada) and followed him up to the room where he temporarily sought refuge to treat his wound and left his belongings.
Santino confronted David as soon as he stepped out of the room, but the latter only shooed him away. But instead of completely leaving, Santino just waited for David to walk off before entering the room where he came from and retrieving his bag. He brought it with him inside the hospital and checked its contents alongside Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), and they were able to find his brown jacket and high-caliber gun, which horrified both of them as they both assumed that David would use it to exact vengeance against Tanggol for what he had done to Rigor.
He may have failed to kill him, but David succeeded in preventing Ramon from pushing his plan of taking Marites away to personally protect her from imminent danger. Well, thanks to compelling acting skills and Ramon’s soft spot towards him and gullibility, especially when David warned him that he might not be able to see Marites anymore nor their family be complete.
As Rigor gained consciousness, Marites told him about the bad news that Mando relayed to her about the administrative charges filed against him by NLEA for beating up Gen. Pacheco after he hurled insults at him and compared him to Tanggol. Upon realizing that he would completely get fired from service if he wouldn’t be able to fix this problem as soon as possible, Rigor forced himself out of his hospital bed and went straight to the police station to speak with Gen. Pacheco.
His friend Mando (Allan Paule) attempted to stop him knowing that Gen. Pacheco was still mad at him, but Rigor was really desperate to save his career and redeem himself. Contrary to his usual aggressive nature, especially towards his family, Rigor humbled himself to his superior as he asked for his forgiveness and expressed his willingness to do anything that he would please in exchange of not getting dismissed from service. In hopes of gaining his forgiveness, Rigor was compelled to obey Gen. Pacheco’s orders for him to get on his knees in front of him and utter, “Ako ang pinaka bobo at pinaka inutil na pulis ng Quiapo!,”which he did against his will twice.
Unfortunately, Gen. Pacheco only tricked him in the presence of his colleagues as instead of assuring him that he could still get back to work once his condition alleviated, he officially dismissed Rigor. Marites tried to appease him but she was left devastated thereafter as Rigor blamed this another misfortune in his life to her and Tanggol (Coco Martin), further rubbing salt to the wound by expressing his regret for choosing Marites and their family.
While David was trying to wipe out any evidence that could prove that it was he who attempted to kill Ramon, he roused Ramon's suspicions as the latter suddenly pressed his gun at his injured leg. Just when it was assumed that David would be compelled to admit the truth, he was able to come up with another lie by saying that he got it when Ramon beat him up. He told him that he only endured it for the sake of heeding his orders to check on Marites at the hospital and to convince her to come with them.
Lucky for David, Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) was able to convince Ramon to not doubt him anymore since he is his son. So, Ramon just simply brushed his worries off.
As Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro) takes over the leadership of Red Phoenix following the demise of Angkong (Joonee Gamboa), he hails Santino to become his right hand since it was he who knocked the old man down. Santino initially declined the promotion, especially since he’s just new to the group, but Lucio, along with some members of the group, agreed that he deserved it after what he had done for them.
After receiving a disturbing call from Augustus (Julio Diaz), through which he heard Amanda (Lorna Tolentino), Primo got even more determined to rescue her. Thus, he immediately advised his group to prepare for what he assumed would be their final mission. Unbeknownst to them, Tanggol and his group, now named “Wating,” were also gearing up for their mission against the Mamba Cartel as Gen. Pacheco promised Tanggol to give him all the information he needed about his estranged father.
Oblivious to Augustus' (Julio Diaz) surprise, Wating and the Mamba Cartel began their transaction. As they opened the huge box brought by Augustus, both groups were shocked to find out that it didn’t contain drugs that they were about to trade but Amanda, whose hands, feet, and mouth were tied.
This resulted in an intense shootout among the three groups and the authorities spearheaded by Gen. Pacheco, which claimed the life of Turko (Benzon Dalina), one of Primo’s loyal friends and allies. Amanda was able to escape and get a gun for herself, then figuring in a gunfight and word war with Divina (Rosanna Roces).
Meanwhile, Tanggol’s friends, led by Enteng (Jojit Lorenzo), were able to speak with Ben (Mark Lapid) and Berting (Joey Marquez), who clarified to them that it was actually the late Col. Suarez (King Gutierrez) who was really their target and not to ruin their gambling den since they didn’t know in the first place that it was theirs.
On the other hand, Tanggol and Primo had a scorching spat, which eventually resulted in a fisticuff wherein Primo was able to knock Tanggol down.
