Marites’ life in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" has always been full of twists and drama, but things just got a whole lot more complicated in the series' recent episodes.
After her husband, Rigor (John Estrada), found himself in hot water for assaulting his superior, General Pacheco (Julio Diaz), the tension only escalated when Rigor was also beaten to a pulp by his stepson Tanggol (Coco Martin), who just learned the shocking truth about their relationship. Rigor becomes consumed by rage and frustration, and as always, is unable to blame anyone for the misfortune in his life except Marites.

With all these explosive events unfolding, Marites once again finds herself caught in the crossfire of the chaos surrounding those she loves. Viewers are likely wondering what’s going through her mind now. Well, Cherry Pie Picache, who portrays the character, honestly thinks, “I’m sure gulong-gulo ngayon ang isip ni Marites.”

She adds that Marites hasn’t fully healed from the betrayal caused by Rigor, like his affair with Lena (Mercedes Cabral), which spiraled into a series of problems. Now, while she’s still processing her pain and trying to suppress her anger with sympathy for Rigor’s situation, here comes Rigor, calling her a 'curse' in his life. The man she thought would protect her and love her truly is the one who’s causing her pain.

Marites finds comfort and a friend in Ramon (Christopher de Leon), the real father of Tanggol. However, this isn't as simple as it seems due to their complicated past, especially with the trauma of Ramon sexually assaulting her. But now, it feels like Marites is seeing a different side of Ramon. "Hindi niya inakala na sa kabila ng nakaraan nila, may kabutihan palang taglay 'yung tao," Cherry Pie ponders.
One thing that Cherry Pie is certain about is that, based on her understanding of her character, Marites will choose compassion over anything else. As a religious person, Marites will still value her vows to Rigor as a wife. Cherry Pie also emphasized, "Hindi dapat nawawala ang awa sa tao."
However, in real life, she believes that compassion is important but not enough to make a relationship work. "'Pag sinabi ng tao na naaawa lang ako sa’yo kaya ako nandito, hindi magandang pakiramdam 'yun." One should stay in a relationship because of love, not out of pity.
Marites' emotions are amazingly raw, and you can really see that in the behind-the-scenes reels from the latest episodes shared on the Instagram of CCM Film Productions. Cherry Pie shows such authenticity, like you're witnessing Marites' struggle from her heart.
Even John, with all his intensity, really brought his A-game as Rigor. You can feel the anger and frustration in his expressions and every word he says; thus, as a viewer, you'll find yourself getting equally furious with him.

In the scene where he begged General Pacheco, and then his best friend Mando (Allan Paule) stepped in, you could tell how far John was willing to go to show his professionalism as he literally lay down on the ground for that confrontation.

The BTS reels and photos also highlight the seamless teamwork that goes into every shot, as well as the use of high-quality cameras and equipment to capture the clarity of every shot, even in the middle of the night.
