Amidst all the intense action and no matter how wild things get in the lives of the characters in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo," there’s always room for love and sweetness. Because love is so powerful that it always finds its way, yes, even in the middle of chaos and in the most unexpected moments. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, what better time to relive the scenes that made our hearts flutter?
If there was ever a scene that screamed passion, it was Mokang (Lovi Poe) and Ramon/Albert (Christopher de Leon)’s honeymoon set against a breathtaking tropical backdrop. They slow danced outdoors by the pool, with a guitarist playing in the background. And then they cozied up in a bathtub surrounded by rose petals. The view, the intimacy and emotions drenched the sequences in pure romance.
But of course, nothing would beat the lighthearted kilig moments Mokang shared with her first love, Tanggol (Coco Martin). One of our favorites is that unforgettable 'inuman' session where she joined his group and ended up in a staring showdown with him. The 'asaran' continued as they noticed Mokang turning red, prompting Tanggol to joke, “'Pag ito nalasing mamaya, in love na sa akin ‘to.”
Shopping for jackets turned into something straight out of fairytale, with Tanggol as the hero and Bubbles (Ivana Alawi) as the damsel in distress in another scene. What happened was she accompanied him to pick out new clothes for his job at Boss Baste (Nino Muhlach)'s club. At first, they were just casually chatting about random things, like Bubbles' dream of visiting a country with snow, which made Tanggol say, "Gusto mo samahan pa kita, eh." But the real kilig poured in when Bubbles reached for a jacket on the highest rack, lost her balance, and fell—right into Tanggol’s arms.
Tanggol may be known for his rough-and-tumble ways, but some situations force him to show his soft side, like when he saved Katherine (Ara Davao) from a thief in Quiapo. The two crossed paths again at her brother's wake. And, surprisingly, their chemistry exuded warmth and understanding as she thanked him for saving her and he sympathized with her loss.
There's something so irresistible about Tanggol that every woman who gets close to him seems to fall under his spell. Proof was when Madonna (Kim Domingo) tagged along as he visited his neighbors in Quiapo. Seeing his genuine kindness toward his neighbors and the way he never forgets to help others, Madonna couldn't help but smile and be completely attracted to him.
Tanggol also shared intense chemistry with Tisay (Barbie Imperial)'s character, and their brief encounters were filled with undeniable fire. There was a scene where they went on a date, both of them with hidden agendas—she wanted to steal from him, and he planned to take back the cars which Tisay's group stole. But before all that could happen, he leaned in, inches away from a kiss.
Who says romance is only for the young? Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) and Tindeng (Charo Santos) proved that kilig knows no age when their simple trip to the market turned into a moment of pure charm. Don Facundo volunteered to join Tindeng to the marked just to relive the simple joys of going there. In that moment, the tough and intimidating Facundo softened and allowed himself to open up to Tindeng about his humble beginnings. Tindeng, noticing the sadness in Facundo’s eyes, lightened up the mood by asking what was with his cowboy hat and why he always wore it. In turn, Facundo cracked a joke, and then offered her fresh mangoes.
"I like you," Annika (Dexi Diaz) confessed her feelings to Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) in a scene. She then gave him a soft kiss on his cheek, leaving Santino too stunned to speak—except for that adorable smile and the way he held her hand back.
We wrap up this Kapamilya Toplist with an unexpected MaMon moment. When Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) helped Ramon patch up an injury he sustained while saving her, they got so close that he failed to control his emotions. He stopped her hand from tending to his wound—and then kissed her.
