Christmas Day is just around the corner! And here in the Philippines, Catholic devotees have been practicing the cherished tradition of Simbang Gabi or Misa de Aguinaldo, which is attending a series of nine devotional evening or dawn Masses in anticipation of Christmas. Many believe that everyone who gets to complete the nine-day novena can make a wish, and it will come true.
While celebrities are deemed to already have everything someone can ask for, there are still things that they pine for. Just like “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” stars Coco Martin, Aljur Abrenica, Jake Cuenca, and Baron Geisler, who recently imparted to ABS-CBN Studios the desires of their respective hearts that they hope to be granted once they have the chance to finish the nine-day devotion.
Of course, coming in first is lead star-slash-director Coco, who, just like his well-loved character Tanggol Montenegro, wishes for the solidarity of Filipinos for us to be able to conquer the challenges that we’ve been going through as a nation, particularly the rampant corruption in the government.
Aljur, on the other hand, seems to not have figured out yet what he wants to receive, as he believes that it will instantly come by the end of the nine mornings/evenings. He further tells ABS-CBN Studios that he’s going to pursue completing the Simbang Gabi and encourages everyone to do so as well.
As he currently stars in not just one but two teleseryes, Jake yearns for nothing but immense success for both “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” and “What Lies Beneath”. At the same time, he wishes that his co-stars and everyone part of the production are going to have a safe and merry Christmas, as well as their family and friends.
And lastly, even though he tends to get on our nerves as one of the kontrabidas, Baron’s wish is not for himself but for his countrymen. “Sana mawala na sa lugmok at kahirapan ang mga Pilipino. [At] sana, maayos na rin po ang gobyerno natin sa tulong po nating lahat.” Moreover, he also prays that victims of calamities that devastated the country in 2025 will have peace of mind and be happy amidst the chaos and uncertainties.
