“Your Face Sounds Familiar” spices up the season with new surprises, one of which is the Battle of the Icons, where two or more celebrity performers can be assigned the same icon.
Round 4 proved to be a major challenge for Jason Dy, not only because he had to face Alexa Ilacad in their Britney Spears showdown but also because it was his first time portraying the opposite gender. During mentoring, movement coach Nyoy Volante emphasized the need for fiercely feminine gestures while vocal coach Klarisse De Guzman focused on highlighting Britney’s signature vocal fry, which Jason pulled off in his "Toxic" performance.
According to Klarisse and Nyoy, who both served as members of the jury, it's specially difficult for a male performer to sing as a female icon, yet Jason delivered so flawlessly that they thought he was lip-syncing because everything was so precise, impressing even Sharon Cuneta and Ogie Alcasid, who were left nearly speechless, with Sharon saying that while the movements were not entirely feminine, Jason had already given more than enough in effort and execution.
And of course, in the spirit of fun, who wouldn’t want to imagine a Jason-versus-Alexa one-on-one Britney showdown? Who’s your pick for the better Britney?
