After discovering the details of Louisa’s (Mutya Orquia) death online, Beth’s daughter, Chloe and her friend Joshua visit the site where Louisa died.
Expressing a keen interest in Louisa’s murder case, Chloe is adamant about creating another social media post on the matter.
They stop just outside Alice’s (Janella Salvador) house and come across Edong (Jake Cuenca), smiling mischievously.
A corrupt police system upholds Edong’s redeemed reputation
Following his speech at the prison’s Bible study, Edong (Jake Cuenca) was called on to discipline another prisoner, a role he apparently holds inside. With every strike he lands on the inmate using a bat, he remembers the same beating Celestino (Bart Guingona) inflicted on him.
Edong is summoned again, this time by Asst. Prison Warden William Ayoc, who informs him about the critical phone call he made to Erica (Kaila Estrada), during which they were almost reported to the higher-ups.
After the warning, the warden lauds Edong for his help with the deliveries of illegal goods.
When all the inmates have gone, Edong is allowed to exit the prison, following the police involved in the systemic corruption inside. He delivers the goods and is granted permission to return a day later, which he uses to go back to Amurao.
Edong and Lucas endured years of abuse that killed their mother
An enraged young Edong (Renshi de Guzman) fights his father, Crisanto (Gerald Madrid), while young Lucas (Andrez del Rosario) holds their battered mother, Dolores (Jennica Garcia). Edong gains the upper hand and threatens to kill his father if he ever abuses their mother again.
The following day, Crisanto is seen day drinking with a friend and plotting a raid on a presumably wealthy neighborhood. Their scheme is abruptly cut short when the police arrive to take Crisanto away, charging him with robbery.
Edong steps forward, revealing himself as the witness who tipped off the authorities. As his father is hauled off, he glares at Edong, hurling threats that hang in the tense air.
After what seems to be quite some time, Edong, Lucas, and Dolores live peacefully without Crisanto, with Edong coming home from work with food and Lucas returning with awards from school.
One unfortunate day, with Edong away, Crisanto returns, seeking vengeance against him. Despite his fear, Lucas grapples with Crisanto to buy time for Dolores to escape. He is thrown down, and Dolores tries to fight back, only to be beaten to death.
Night falls, and Edong comes home to find a bloodied piece of wood, an unconscious Lucas, and their dead mother, Dolores.
Edong turns to self-destructive coping after his trauma
After Dolores’ (Jennica Garcia) death, Edong (Renshi de Guzman) often becomes frantic trying to protect his remaining family, Lucas (Andrez del Rosario). More often than not, he suspects passersby near their house to be men sent by his elusive father, Crisanto (Gerald Madrid).
With the cause of his violent tendencies revealed, Edong gets into an altercation with Beth (Allyson McBride) and Louisa (Mutya Orquia) to defend Lucas from their insults.
Moments after the confrontation, Lucas berates his brother for making the scene worse, calling out his wrongdoings as tarnishing his reputation, even though he tries to do good on his own.
Alice criticizes Beth and Mel for treating Erica unfairly
Frustrated, Erica (Kaila Estrada) argues that she wouldn’t be here if there weren’t a strong possibility of Edong and Lucas’ involvement in Esther (Malou Crisologo) and Celestino’s (Bart Guigona) recent cases.
A calm but concerned Alice (Janella Salvador) thanks Erica for alerting them to the possible threats, prompting Beth (Charlie Dizon) to question why she did so.
Annoyed, Alice reproaches Beth for her need to always be right and Mel for focusing only on defending Lucas.
