“Rainbow Rumble” never runs out of surprises and moments that pull at the heartstrings. Last October 26, the episode featured some of the most iconic Kapamilya child stars, recapturing nostalgic teleserye moments for the viewers.
The now grown-up actors and actresses laughed heartily when host Luis Manzano reminisced about their adorable “kulitan” moments around ABS-CBN headquarters: “Dati sa hallways ng ABS-CBN… Puro sigawan at laro ang naririnig namin mula sa inyo.”
While reflecting on their careers today, they shared their thoughts on being admired by today’s child stars. Rhed Bustamante, who played the ill-tempered Liza Maristela in “FlordeLiza,” shared that she hopes to be seen as a good example of an actress through her best efforts as seen in her performances.
Mutya Orquia, who played the titular protagonist in “Mutya,” is happy because she sees younger generations’ dreams gradually becoming a reality. “Masaya po kami... Meron ding bagong generation naman na matutupad ‘yung mga pangarap nila,” she expressed.
Also contributing to the optimism is Louise Abuel, who played the hopeful Kevin Delgado in “100 Days To Heaven.” He feels even more grateful that the new generation of child stars is rising: “Kasi for a time medyo nawala ‘yung mga batang artista, and now bumabalik na, and now [I’m] very proud of them.”
One of the most well-known child stars, Zaijan Jaranilla, who played Santino in “May Bukas Pa,” also spoke about the pressure his fellow former child stars were under: “May pressure din kahit papaano kasi ikaw ‘yung hinahangaan nila… parang dapat kailangang maging magandang example ka para sa kanila.”
Bringing humor to the conversation is Xyriel Manabat, who made her mark in the entertainment industry with her dual role in “Agua Bendita” and as Miley in “Momay.”
Xyriel mentioned that she sometimes gets mistaken for one of the younger generation of child stars because of her height. She is then highlighted by Luis as one of the most trending stars today for her recent participation in “PBB Celebrity Collab Edition.”
Zaijan started the game by being the first pointer and obtaining the ‘Lucky Tile’ at the same time. Throughout the game, Louise and Rhed were also prepared to use their ‘Atras Power’ to change the course of events.
As numerous ‘Tile Breakers’ followed, the match became neck-and-neck, with Mutya facing Xyriel and Zaijan battling both Xyriel and Rhed over the questions.
When Louise answered the “Todo na ‘To” question incorrectly, he almost lost the lead against Zaijan, the other front-runner, but he managed to win the title and end the jackpot round with 91,000 pesos.
