A few weeks after he was hailed as the first-ever Filipino and Asian grand winner of “The Voice USA Season 26” in December 2024, Sofronio Vasquez delighted his Pinoy fans when he returned to the Philippines this January for his highly anticipated homecoming.
And as his way of keeping his promise to his coach, Canadian singer-songwriter Michael Buble, he made sure that the first item on his itinerary or his first order of business was to be on “It’s Showtime,” where his music career first took off. His initial appearance was in the January 6 episode, in which he astounded everyone with his musical number alongside some of the champions and hurados of “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”
More than a week later, he once again graced the long-running noontime program on January 18. This time, he was not just a guest performer who sang a medley of songs together with grand finalists of “Tawag ng Tanghalan: The School Showdown” for the opening number, but also a guest hurado who assessed their performances during “Ang Huling Tapatan.”
While we only got to see everything that transpired on-cam during that special day, Sofronio gave us peek of the goings-on behind the scenes of his full circle moment through the latest vlog that he uploaded on his very own YouTube channel.
The video commenced with his arrival at the ABS-CBN compound, with the team of showbiz correspondent MJ Felipe welcoming him and accompanying him throughout the day for an exclusive interview. He then showed us his preparations for that stint, as well as his stage rehearsals with the grand finalists prior to the show proper, wherein he got to mingle with some of the hosts, staff, and even live audiences.
Sofronio’s team also included some clips during the live airing of “It’s Showtime”—from the opening spiels of the hosts to the amazing performances and amusing interviews of the contestants. Of course, some of his and his fellow hurados’ standing ovation moments were captured, as well as that moment when he got a bit emotional while delivering his first-ever comment as a judge.
He initially expressed his gratitude to the Showtime family for giving him the opportunity to experience how it is to become a hurado, then his admiration to the performance of grand finalist Christian Tibayan, whom he has known for a long time already via livestreaming platform.
Now that he’s already gone back to the United States, for sure, many are looking forward to witness Sofronio further thrive in the global scene and achieve more of his goals and aspirations! We’re rooting for you, Sofronio!
