It was indeed a highly emotional and action-packed week (January 20 to January 24) in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” as we witnessed the highly anticipated confrontation scene between Tanggol (Coco Martin) and Rigor (John Estrada), wherein both of them poured out their pent-up wrath against each other through their intense, bloody scuffle.
But prior to that, we witnessed the reunion of Ramon (Christopher de Leon) with the parents of his late wife Monique (Lovi Poe), Nita (Susan Africa) and Marcing (Pen Medina), as he unintentionally got into their house after David (McCoy De Leon) succeeded in convincing him to leave. They seized the chance to uncover the truth about Monique’s fate, with Ramon refuting that it was him who murdered or ordered to kill her. Ramon refused to heed their request of having at least her body be returned them, arguing that he’s more rightful to have her since she’s the husband.
Afraid that Ramon and Rigor would bump into each other, David quickly followed his father out of San Dimas to prevent it from happening. But before that, David had a heated altercation with Tindeng (Charo Santos) and Roda (Joel Lamangan) as he disrespected her once again. After David left, Tanggol arrived at their house and confronted Tindeng for hiding the truth about his identity despite all the nasty deeds that Rigor did to him growing up.
Tindeng explained that they only did that to not ruin his life and sincerely apologized to him, but he didn’t believer her. Instead, he unleashed his wrath at her and threatened to kill him, then went out and wreaked havoc in their neighborhood that horrified and agitated the people of Sandimas. Some of their neighbors were able to pacify him by inviting him to go on a drink with them as he declared not letting the day pass without getting back at Rigor.
While Ramon finally gave in to Marites’ request not show himself to Tanggol and just leave, Tanggol decided to wait for Rigor. And later that evening, their much-awaited face-off finally happened, which began with nail-biting gunfight between them that totally horrified the people of Sandimas, including Marites, who was totally devastated by the violent and heartbreaking confrontation between her husband and son.
Since Tanggol’s gun had no bullets, Rigor challenged him to a brawl, which eventually left him heavily beaten up and bloodied. Just when Tanggol was about to shoot Rigor to death, Marites just came right in time to stop him and tearfully pleaded him to have mercy on his adoptive father. Tanggol then expressed his anger at Marites for not doing anything to protect him from being beaten up by Rigor ever since he was a kid and asked her who his real father is.
She was compelled to confess that he’s none other than Ramon, who took advantage of her many years ago. That caused her relationship with Rigor to crumble and the reason why he hated them so much, which Tanggol believed were not enough reasons for him to suffer in his hands. Despite his fury, Tanggol still didn’t find it in his heart to finish him off as he shot the road instead and quickly left.
Meanwhile, Primo (Lito Lapid) and Amanda’s (Lorna Tolentino) were able to infiltrate the gambling den owned by Tanggol and his associates, and an intense shootout ensued between the two groups. Divina (Rosanna Roces) and his minions attempted to rescue Colonel Suarez but failed.
On their way out, Primo’s group were greeted by the police led by Rigor and another nail-biting skirmish transpired. Unfortunately, they were left with no choice but to leave Amanda behind. They immediately brought her to the police station where she came face-to-face with Augustus anew. As Augustus brandished his gun at them and repeatedly called him stupid and moron, Rigor got agitated, which triggered him to beat him up.
As Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro) aims to be the new leader of Red Phoenix, he took advantage of Santino’s (Ronwaldo Martin) naivety by asking him to kill someone, who turned out to be Angkong (Joonee Gamboa). He told Santino that this secret mission would be his way of proving his loyalty to their “family.”
Apparently, a lot of Kapamilya viewers looked forward to their clash, which was part of the January 23 episode tagged “#FPJBQGalitNgPuso” that reached 803,123 all-time high peak concurrent viewers on Kapamilya Online Live on YouTube. The thrill brought by that dramatic and action-packed scene was reflected in the tweets posted by netizens who got to watch the previous week’s episode on X (formerly Twitter). Here are some of them:
