As "Lavender Fields" heads into its final week, Edu Manzano looks back at playing the monstrous Vitto Buenavidez, describing the experience as both challenging and unforgettable.
In a short reel shared on Dreamscape Entertainment's Instagram page, Edu opened up about the unique difficulty of playing the bad guy in the story, especially since many of his co-stars are his friends in real life. Despite this, he shared how the challenge inspired them to push even harder. “Dito, kahit magkakaibigan kayo, pero, pagdating sa pagandahin ang eksena, talagang binibigay ang lahat,” he revealed.
He’s genuinely thankful for the opportunity to work with friends he had collaborated with before. He said that he knew from the start they would feel like family on set. And this strong bond makes saying goodbye even more bittersweet.
Edu gave life to a character driven by ambition and greed. He can kill in cold blood. Yet, his evilness is laced with a compelling soft spot for his daughters. And this love and fierce protective nature as a father become even more apparent as the story races toward its finale.
In a recent episode, Vitto vowed to fulfill his promise to his daughter Iris (Janine Gutierrez) that he will seek revenge against Jasmin (Jodi Sta. Maria), the mistress of Iris' husband, Tyrone (Jericho Rosales).
“Ako ang magwawagi,” he boldly declared at the start of the series, and with unwavering confidence, he stands by it now. Edu teased that the final stretch of "Lavender Fields" will be packed with twists and turns, building up to an explosive conclusion on Friday, January 17, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
