His showbiz career may have started in 2012 through the smash hit daytime series “Be Careful With My Heart,” but it was through his stint as one of the members Hashtags, the very own boy group of It’s Showtime, in which McCoy de Leon gained popularity.
In the more than a decade that he’s been in the industry, it wasn’t only his talent as a performer that he got to exhibit but also his impressive flair in acting that he currently gets to showcase through his notable and compelling portrayal of David in the top-rating primetime series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
He may have received a lot of ill-wishes and a slew of bashings from avid viewers and netizens, yet we cannot discount the fact that McCoy has been doing a great job, especially in keeping pace with his seasoned and veteran co-stars. With Cherry Pie Picache
As he idolizes Rigor (John Estrada) so much, it hasn’t been surprising that David completely took after his father, especially when it comes to their personalities and mindsets. That can be attested by this clip, in which, just like Rigor, David also blamed his mother, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) over what happened to Lena (Mercedes Cabral) and her baby.
This, of course, upset Marites since he immediately accused her without knowing the truth, not to mention that he chose to side with his father’s paramour than to her, his own mother. Another burning altercation ensued between Marites and Rigor, in which David chimed in by urging his mom to leave and his dad to kick her and his brother Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) out of their house. For him, it was the right thing to be done for their household to finally attain peace and order since Rigor was just being patient with her. Really dumb, right?
With Charo Santos
The oft-quoted adage, “The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree,” indeed speaks true to David as it was not only Marites whom he disrespected, but also his grandmother Tindeng (Charo Santos). As she called him out for being arrogant now that he earns a lot of money, this triggered David and went on to call her and Noy (Lou Veloso) “palamunin,” which didn’t sit well with Marites, so he received a sharp slap from her. Tindeng went on to remind him, “Ang sukatan ng halaga ng isang tao ay hindi kung ano ang meron siya, kundi kung ano siya.”
This intense scene makes us want to find out how McCoy felt while shooting this opposite Charo—a veteran actress and a top executive of ABS-CBN. This could have been very nerve-wracking.

As if the news of Red Phoenix leaders Mr. Wu (Ricardo Cepeda) and Roy (Jeffrey Tam) wasn’t enough to frustrate Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and Don Julio (Tommy Abuel), they further got disappointed upon learning from Olga (Irma Adlawan) that their most dependable henchman, Bullet (Renz Fernandez) died during the shootout.
But what further agitated Ramon was hearing from David (a.k.a. “fake Hesus”) the words, “Gano’n naman talaga silbi nila, ‘di ba? Ang mamatay para sa atin?”, which triggered a conflict between them. Ramon almost threw a punch on him that prompted David to retaliate by pushing him and telling him that he’s just good at hurting other people, including his own son.
Imagine having an acting showdown with one of the most esteemed actors in the country for decades now? Truly fantastic!

They may be allies, but since both of them exhibit strong personalities and often have varied opinions and points of view, it’s inevitable for David and Olga not to get into squabbles. Among those scenes was this episode, wherein she got mad at him for his failure to flawlessly execute his mission of killing Ramon’s most trusted right-hand, Severino (Dindo Arroyo).
As she kept on calling him “tanga” or stupid, he wasn’t able to hold his temper and beratingly explained what happened, which prompted her to slap and push him. He attempted to point his gun at her but Iris was quick enough to aim hers at him and threatened to do the same thing that he did to Severino.
We wonder how does it feel to engage in an onscreen match with one of the most respected and versatile actresses in the country like Irma?

And lastly, before he mercilessly killed Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) during the Montenegros’ horrendous massacre of the Caballeros, David once had a heated argument with him regarding business. As he tried to ask him to stop competing with their family’s drug business in order to maintain the peace between the two parties, as well as to encourage him to tell him where their drug laboratory was located, Don Facundo instead rejected his request and told him to leave.
While this scene was didn’t involve any kind of violence unlike the previous ones, yet the tension between Don Facundo and David was truly felt.
