There’s something magical about a friendship that feels like it’s on the verge of something more. During your youth, connections like these become your safe haven, a sweet reminder that you always have someone to lean on, someone who just gets you.
That's what we feel watching things unfold between Mira (Jana Agoncillo) and Gio (Marc Santiago) in the trending series "Lavender Fields." Here's a Kapamilya Toplist compilation of scenes that show just how much their friendship is blossoming.
Mira has always been the kind of girl with a heart so pure, it’s almost impossible not to feel at ease around her. She's always been there for Gio, who started off as someone she felt needed a friend, or maybe even a protector from school bullies.
In one scene, a curious Gio asked why she was so kind to him, to which she replied with her signature innocent smile, saying one doesn't need a specific reason to be compassionate.
It was followed by a more serious conversation where Gio let Mira see his vulnerable side as he opened up about losing his dad, Max (Victor Neri). In turn, Mira shared her own struggle with the lingering pain of her mom’s mysterious disappearance, a loss her family still hasn’t moved on from.
You know a bond is deepening when two people feel comfortable sharing their dreams with each other. Like when Gio confided in Mira that he dreams of becoming a police officer, which is why he’s working so hard in school to succeed. But Mira noticed a hint of bitterness in his eyes as he admitted that one of the reasons he wants to be a cop is to seek justice for his father’s death and catch Jasmin Flores (Jodi Sta. Maria), who is suspected to be his father’s murderer. Mira fell silent because, deep down, she was hiding a heavy secret, knowing that Jasmin is actually Lavender Fields, the woman her grandmother Aster (Maricel Soriano) had taken in.
Of course, in a budding romance like this, jealousy is inevitable, especially from those who notice their growing closeness. One such person is their schoolmate JP (Miguel Vergara), who couldn’t help but feel envious because he also likes Mira. In one scene, Gio was pushed to his limit when JP loudly insulted him by calling him the son of a housemaid and a killer. This triggered Gio to retaliate and end up fighting JP.
The incident resulted in Gio’s temporary suspension from school. So, Mira made sure to check on him by calling, letting him know she was on his side. Still, she reminded him to keep his temper in check and not let his emotions get the best of him.
She’s his biggest cheerleader on campus, as shown in the scene where she excitedly cheered him on during his volleyball game. She was so proud when Gio performed well in the match, even besting JP.
When Gio is in a good mood and not weighed down by anger, he and Mira share sweet moments. Like that one time on campus, they were casually chatting and Gio promised to treat her once he gets some extra cash. They had no idea JP was watching them from afar, jealousy written all over his face.
Gio kept his promise by treating Mira to snacks with the money he earned from his car-washing side job. She, of course, appreciated his thoughtful gesture but encouraged him to save up, especially for a new pair of shoes. That is, because he believes he has the potential to join the school’s varsity team and urged him to try out.
Another conflict arose, though, when a video surfaced around campus showing Gio’s father pointing a gun at someone. This news hurt Gio deeply, causing him to walk out in the middle of his friendly date with Mira. During moments like these, she became his confidante. In a later scene, he visited her at her house to apologize for his behavior. Mira reassured him, saying she completely understood and emphasized that he wasn’t at fault. She told him not to let the accusations against his father affect him, as even she didn’t believe them. She suggested that maybe his father was just doing his job as a bodyguard for the Buenavidez family. Besides, she pointed out, the actions of their parents don’t automatically define who they are.
