Cisco and Cheska’s road trip is touching hearts everywhere — and people can’t stop talking about it!
As “Tayo Sa Wakas” finally arrives in cinemas, audiences from all walks of life have been sharing the love, heartbreak, realizations, and emotional aftermath left by Cisco (Donny Pangilinan) and Cheska’s (Belle Mariano) story.
Celebrities, critics, and fans first experienced the journey during the film’s world premiere held on Tuesday, May 26, at SM Megamall — a night filled with tears, warm embraces, and heartfelt reactions that quickly proved just how deeply the story resonated.
Among the first celebrities to share their thoughts were Sue Ramirez and Charlie Dizon, who warmly embraced Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan after the screening.
“Pusong-puso 'yung project na 'to. It really hits different,” Sue shared, visibly moved by the film.
Charlie, meanwhile, praised the direction of Cathy Garcia-Sampana, noting how the film carries a different emotional attack that deeply touches the heart.
Maris Racal, along with BINI members Mikha, Stacey, Jhoanna, and Maloi, also joined in expressing their love for the movie, with all of them agreeing that “Tayo Sa Wakas” is nothing short of an emotional cry fest.
Maris highlighted how the film reflected “the idea of modern love,” while BINI Maloi couldn’t help but mention the heartbreaking line that stayed with her: “Sorry kung nakalimutan kong mahal kita.”
Director Mae Cruz-Alviar, who previously worked with Donny and Belle in “Can’t Buy Me Love”, also shared heartfelt praise for the film and Direk Cathy’s work.
“So real. So raw — ang galing ni Cathy. Direk Cathy is really a master in this genre. She brought out excellent performances from the two. I felt like I was watching real people. I felt for both of them, grabe 'yung laban ko sa pag-iyak,” she said.
The love continued online as other celebrities flooded social media with emotional reactions shortly after the premiere night.
“Love You So Bad” star Bianca de Vera shared via her Instagram stories: “[S]o tender. [S]o honest. [S]o beautifully done. [C]ried for like 10-15 minutes straight while watching this movie.”
Melai Cantiveros also couldn’t help but praise Donny and Belle’s performances in an Instagram post, emphasizing how they took on certain scenes for the first time.
Meanwhile, “Call Me Mother” stars and “Pinoy Big Brother” alums Klarisse De Guzman and Esnyr Ranollo took to X to let all the feels out after the screening.
Klarisse excitedly posted: “ANG GANDA NG TAYO SA WAKAS!!😭👏🏻 O IS A!”
Esnyr kept the hype rolling too, writing: “HOY ANG GANDA NG TAYO SA WAKAS, PLS DON’T SLEEP ON THIS ONE”
Vivoree Esclito reflected on the film’s premise in her Instagram story, saying: “[T]his movie perfectly captures an imperfect relationship between two competent individuals in the same field of work who happen to fall in love... 100/10!!! I WANNA WATCH THIS AGAIN BY MYSELF AND WRECK MY LIFE.”
Media personality Darla Sauler also highlighted the emotional impact of the story in a Facebook post: “You're in for a lot of kilig, kirot, self-awareness and love, acceptance. This will remind you to never forget about your love for someone, to never ever give up.”
OPM band Ben&Ben appreciated the emotional rhythm of the film, posting a selfie with Donny and Belle on Facebook last May 25, alongside the words: “Malalim ang tama. May bitaw, may bayo.”
Outside of the premiere night, critics and moviegoers alike have also been vocal about the emotional effect of the film.
Film critic Goldwin Reviews gave “Tayo Sa Wakas” four stars, praising the way the film navigates different emotions and stages of love. In his full review, he wrote: “Pelikula man o sa totoong buhay, masasabi nating [m]agandang wakas ito para sa panibagong simula.”
Movie review page Maganda Ba? also shared its thoughts in a Facebook post last May 26, giving “Tayo Sa Wakas” a verdict of “Napaka Ganda” while highlighting Donny and Belle’s growth as actors.
“I can say that this is the best Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano film ever! Mas nag-mature na ang dalawa, at mas kita dito yung malaking improvement nila sa range, nuances, at emotions,” the page wrote.
Fans, meanwhile, have taken over social media with tearful selfies, post-screening reflections, and emotional reactions after witnessing Cisco and Cheska’s story firsthand.
