Grammy-winning Canadian singer Daniel Caesar returned to Manila and delivered a deeply personal set that quickly shifted into a shared moment with the audience.
The Filipino crowd turned the first night of his Son of Spergy stop into a full-blown singalong, joining in on his hit songs and filling parts of the night with their voices.
“It’s been like a year. I was here not that long ago, maybe around a year ago. I always love coming back here. You guys are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. And now for the next, what, like minutes, I get to do whatever the h*ll I want.,” Daniel expressed.
He opened the concert with a heartfelt performance of "Moon," setting an emotional tone for the night as Daniel leaned into the intimacy of the moment.
As the set progressed, the energy shifted quickly, with the crowd erupting into a singalong the moment the intro of “Who Knows” played.
One of the best parts of the show came when the singer-songwriter let the crowd take over as he lay on the floor during the Grammy-winning "Best Part."
The audience also sang along to every lyric of his viral track "Always," while the lights shifted and pulsed across the arena, amplifying the atmosphere and matching the song’s mood.
Aside from simply singing, Daniel showcased his musical versatility throughout the set, playing guitar on select songs, including "Are You Ok."
Adding a tambourine during “Rain Down” added a distinct texture to the live performance.
For “Sins of the Father,” he moved to the keyboard, adding a richer layer to the track’s live rendition.
At another point in the show, Daniel also took on the drums, further highlighting his range as a multi-instrumentalist, leading into the final moments of the set.
Closing the night, he performed “Loose,” bringing the concert to a powerful close.
This marks his third visit to the Philippines, following his “Superpowers World Tour” stop in Manila in 2023 and his performance at the Wanderland Music and Arts Festival in 2025.
This year, however, he returns to Manila for a three-night concert run from May 19 to 21 for his highly anticipated Son of Spergy tour. A direct homage to the singer-songwriter’s father, it is presented by Live Nation Philippines.
