Kapamilya singer and songwriter Maki got noticed by South Korean superstar and Red Velvet member, Wendy, earlier this week. In her radio program, Wendy’s Youngstreet, the K-Pop star broadcast the OPM singer’s song, "Turning Green."
"Turning Green" is part of Maki’s first studio album, Kolorcoaster, which he also played in his sold-out concert at the Araneta Coliseum earlier this year.

In his X (formerly Twitter) account, the singer-songwriter shared a clip of the Red Velvet member playing his song on South Korean radio. He expressed his disbelief that one of his idols would mention him.
“WHAT DO U MEAN WENDY HEARD MY VOICE AND MENTIONED MY NAME AND MY SONG AND WHAT anO daw,” he wrote.
Maki added how Red Velvet has been his favorite South Korean girl group and was ecstatic with what just transpired.
“RED VELVET IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY NUMBER 1 GIRL GROUP WHAT DO U MEAN THIS HAPPENED,” he added.
Fans of Maki and Red Velvet shared how happy they are for him as his song was recommended by the South Korean singer. Other netizens hoped that this would be the start of a possible collaboration between the two artists.
“Hoyyyyy I'm so proud for you Maki! Wendy loves refreshing songs, so happy that she likes 'Turning Green' and she's been listening to you. I didn't know you are a Reveluv. This is amazing,” a fan wrote.
“MY ULT BIAS PLAYED MAKI'S SONG ON HER RADIO SHOW?!?! Wendy 🤝 Maki. Taste recognizes taste,” another fan added.

Previously, Maki explained how "Turning Green" was a track that he wrote from someone’s point of view.
“Medyo kakaiba kasi hindi ko siya sinulat from my POV. Sinulat ko siya from a POV of another person. Meron tayong thinking minsan na madali naman silang mapatawad as long as they say sorry. Nilagay ko siya sa kanta 'yung mga gusto kong marinig from that person nilagay ko siya dito,” he previously shared.
“Para siyang kabaliktaran ng 'Namumula' kasi 'yung color theory, ang kabaliktaran ng red is green. Parang nilagay ko pa rin 'yung red flag element dito because the ex is the red flag but also dito sa 'Turning Green' is 'yung parang pagsisi sa tao na 'yun na hindi niya nakita na the grass isn't greener on the other side. Ayun po 'yung pinaka-concept ng 'Turning Green,’” he added.
