DreamWorks Animation has released its brand-new trailer for the upcoming animated feature Forgotten Island.

In the trailer, lifelong best friends Jo (voiced by H.E.R.) and Raissa (voiced by Liza Soberano) are about to part ways as they head to college when they decided to spend one fun night together.

"You really don't have to go all the way to the US for school," Jo told Raissa.

"We're not kids anymore, Jo," Raissa replied.

"Well, at least we made some good memories," Jo said.

As they spend one last night together a mysterious portal opens and transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali.

According to the official synopsis, Nakali is "packed with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing stories about from their Filipino families. "

"Joined by well-meaning-but-hapless weredog Raww (Dave Franco) and a small-but-mighty pack of pals, Jo and Raissa must face The Dreaded Manananggal (Tony-winning icon Lea Salonga), the most feared creature on the island. When they discover that the memories of their entire friendship are the price for returning home, Jo and Raissa will race to find a way to leave the island before they forget each other forever," the synopsis added.

Other voice cast members include Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, and Ronny Chieng.

Liza Soberano reacts to landing lead voice role in 'Forgotten Island' of DreamWorks

Back in October 2025, Liza took to social media to express her gratitude to be part of the project.

"I can't believe I get to be part of something as special as Forgotten Island!" she said. "Thank you @dreamworks @joel.crawford.art @jmercado for making my dreams come true.”

Forgotten Island is set for release in Philippine cinemas on September 23.

The movie was written and co-directed by Filipino-American filmmaker Januel Mercado alongside Joel Crawford.

Forgotten Island marks Januel Mercado's first time receiving full directing credit. He previously served as co-director on DreamWorks' critically acclaimed hit Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
