Selena Gomez is set to make her directorial debut in the third and final season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
According to a press release from The Walt Disney Company, the actress-singer, who also serves as an executive producer on the series, will direct the first episode of the upcoming season.
Selena will also appear in multiple episodes.
The four-episode final season will follow "Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) — still reeling from losing Alex (Selena) at the end of Season 2 — discovers that the only way to rescue her mother is to reunite with her long-lost father. As her family bands together to find Alex, Billie realizes that their combined power is the only way the Russos can defeat the evil plaguing them," as per press release.
The series also stars David Henrie as Justin Russo, Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo, Max Matenko as Milo Russo, Taylor Cora as Winter, and Mimi Gianopulos as Giada Russo.
Season 3 is set to premiere across Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Channel On Demand this summer.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is a comedy television series created by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. Serving as a sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place, it premiered on Disney Channel on October 29, 2024. The show was renewed for a second season in March 2025, which debuted on September 12, 2025.
Meanwhile, in a November 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Selena shared her desire to pursue more acting projects in the future.

"I think I’ve done just as much as I wanted to do in music, but it’s exciting because I feel like I haven’t even started in film and TV, even though I know I’ve been a part of some great projects and I’m really proud of them," she said.
"I like that I have to earn my position, and I love storytelling. So, I’m excited to do more of that," she pointed out.
