Filipina actress Liza Soberano expressed gratitude for being part of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming film “Forgotten Island,” which features a cast of Filipino and Filipino American talents.
Soberano, H.E.R., Lea Salonga, Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto and Jo Koy are just some of the voices featured in the animated film, which centers around Filipino culture.
On Instagram, Soberano shared her appreciation post to the team of the upcoming film as she uploaded photos of her as well as snaps with H.E.R. and the people behind "Forgotten Island."
"I have so much love for the whole team behind this project. ❤️🇵🇭 I’m so so so honored and proud to be a part of such an amazing film that showcases Filipino culture and talent!! Did everyone like the trailer?" Soberano captioned her post.
Meanwhile, Salonga also expressed her excitement about "Forgotten Island."
"Oh my gosh, oh my golly, oh my goodness, I am SO FRICKEN EXCITED!!!!!," she wrote, as she shared the fim's trailer.
DreamWorks has officially released the trailer of "Forgotten Island" on Wednesday.
In the original animated film H.E.R. and Soberano star as high school graduates Jo and Raissa. As they prepare to take separate paths in their life, Jo and Raissa accidentally travel into the island of Nakali, a mysterious island populated by Filipino mythical creatures.
As they look for a way home, they stumble upon weredog Raww (Dave Franco), and the most feared creature on the island, The Dreaded Manananggal (Lea Salonga).
The movie's trailer is chock-full of references to Filipino culture including the aswang, a jeepney with the word "Mabuhay" on the signboard, a bird that looks like the Ibong Adarna, and the portal that looks like the sun on the Philippine flag.
The film's all-star voice cast also includes Jenny Slate and Ronny Chieng.
"Forgotten Island" is written and directed by Academy Award nominee Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado and is produced by Academy Award nominee Mark Swift, the filmmaking team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
DreamWorks Animation’s "Forgotten Island" is distributed by Universal Pictures.
The film will hit Philippine cinemas on September 23.
