Tears flowed when Kim Chiu shared her happiness after hearing about "The Alibi," taking the first slot in ABS-CBN’s free TV primetime block, beginning March 16. "The Alibi" will replace Coco Martin’s "FPJ’s Batang Quiapo."
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Chiu admitted that she was "shocked and shookt." She got the good news after "It’s Showtime" on Tuesday afternoon.
“Hindi ko alam kung bakit (ako umiyak). Nung sinabi nila sa akin naiyak talaga ako. Pa-20 years (in show business) na tayo this April and first time pa lang ako nag-first slot. Ang dami nang nangyari sa ABS and all, ready ang ‘The Alibi,’ handa kami.“

Some fans are saying that this is Chiu’s good karma.
“I’m not sure. Hindi ko alam. Sadyang nagpapadala lang ako sa unos ng hangin, flow ng water, di ko alam,” she said.
In tears, Chiu reflected, “May mga bagay na nangyayari na hindi mo in-expect. Grateful lang talaga ako and ngayon hindi na nga ako nag-e-expect ng anything. Grateful lang.”
Chiu knows the pressure of the 8p.m. time slot having a massive audience. “Nakaka-pressure 'yung oras na 'yun dahil matagal 'yun na nakaupo sa trono ay si Sir Coco Martin. Iba din 'yung audience nila, di ko rin alam, pinagdadasal ko na lang talaga na sana kahit lumapit lang doon sa audience ni Tanggol.”
The last time she was part of ABS-CBN’s first slot in primetime was 20 years ago — her very first teleserye, "Sana Maulit Muli."
She also messaged her leading man Paulo Avelino -- who is in Paris, France now for a movie shoot -- upon hearing the news. “Tinext ko siya, sabi ko ‘Alam mo na ba 'yung balita? 'Oo kanina pa,' nonchalant lang siya. Sabi niya, ‘oo nasabi na sa akin, congrats’ sabi niya. Wala siya masyadong emoji, ako lang 'yung OA.”
Her only wish is for the audience to give "The Alibi" a chance to share its wonderful story and message to the Filipino audience.
“Kahit napanood na nila sa Prime Video, sana mapanood nila 'yung full version,” she said.
‘The Alibi’ will premiere on free TV starting March 16.
