MANILA -- Kapamilya actor Anthony Jennings is starring in the comedy series "Nurse the Dead," about Filipino medical workers in the United States.

Produced by ABS-CBN's iWant, the series also stars US-based Filipino actors Ruby Rodriguez, Princess Punzalan, and Tootsie Guevarra.

Written and directed by Mark Labella, "Nurse the Dead" marks iWant's first bilingual English-Filipino series shot in the US.

“‘Nurse the Dead’ is a dark comedy rooted in something very real: the Filipino healthcare experience,” Labella said in an exclusive article released by Variety.

“Filipino nurses make up about 4% of the U.S. nursing workforce, yet were disproportionately represented among COVID-era nurse deaths — and that reality stayed with me. We’re using the supernatural and workplace chaos to explore grief, resilience, and legacy with bite, humor, and heart," he added.

The series also features Filipino-American actress Jelynn Malone in the lead role as Noa Reyes.

According to Jolly Estaris, head of iWant and ABS-CBN Integrated Digital Sales, the series is part of the platform's strategy to reach Filipino diaspora audiences.

“At iWant, we’re focused on building boldly Filipino storytelling with global reach. ... ‘Nurse the Dead’ reflects that ambition – and producing our first bilingual series in Los Angeles marks a major step in iWant’s quest to connect with generations of audiences across the diaspora,” Estaris said.
