MANILA -- Klarisse de Guzman is adding another first to her résumé, as the OPM singer makes her TV acting debut in the mystery-family drama “The Secrets of Hotel 88.”
In a reel released by show producer Star Creatives, de Guzman talked about her character and preparations for the upcoming series, which stars her fellow "PBB Celebrity Collab Edition" housemates Mika Salamanca, Brent Manalo, Will Ashley, Ralph de Leon, Esnyr, AZ Martinez, River Joseph, Dustin Yu, Bianca de Vera, Xyriel Manabat, Josh Ford and Kira Balinger.
In the series, de Guzman plays Monette Salcedo, the older sister of Esnyr.
"Kaya ko rin pala mag-drama actress. Charing! Dito po sa 'Secrets of Hotel 88' ako si Monette. Magkapatid kami rito ni Esnyr. Ate na naman ako dito of course. And ang role ko rito is kami yung mamamahala talaga nung hotel," de Guzman said.
(I can also be a drama actress. Here in 'Secrets of Hotel 88,' I am Monette. Esnyr and I are siblings here. I’m the older sister again, of course. And my role here is that we are the ones who will manage the hotel.)
De Guzman admitted that portraying her character is very challenging for her.
"Hindi lang ako medyo kalog dito. May mga times na medyo ay seryoso tayo dito. Minsan nakakatakot. Ito nga finally nasa taping kami," she said.
(I’m not just funny here. There are times when I'm a bit serious here. Sometimes a bit scary. Finally, we’re here at the taping.)
She said that part of their preparations for the series was to undergo workshop.
"Bago ito ang dami naming pinagdaanan. Una diyan is nagkaroon kami ng mga briefing, nag-workshop kami with Ms. Malou de Guzman. Hanggang sa sinend na sa amin 'yung script siyempre ako bilang first time ko ito, hindi ko pa naintindihan kung paano basahin kasi iba rin pala ang atake kapag serye. Nakakapanibago but masaya, sobrang saya," she said.
(Before this, we went through a lot of preparation. First, we had briefings, we did a workshop with Ms. Malou de Guzman. Then, when the script was sent to us, of course, since it’s my first time, I didn’t understand how to read it because the approach is different when it’s a series. It’s a bit new, but happy.)
De Guzman also shared what the viewers can expect from "The Secrets of Hotel 88."
"Siguro iisipin ng iba, baka ano na lang 'yung usual na love team, ganun-ganun. Pero iba po talaga siya kapag nalaman niyo 'yung totoong istorya niya. Magugulat kayo. Ang ganda ng istorya po talaga. Punong-puno, siksik-liglig," de Guzman shared.
(Maybe others will think it’s just the usual love team, but it’s really different when you get to know the real story. You’ll be surprised. The story is really beautiful. It’s full, tightly packed.)
"The Secrets of Hotel 88," which marks the former housemates first project together, is another collaboration between ABS-CBN and GMA.
ABS-CBN's "The Secrets of Hotel 88" will premiere on GMA Prime on March 2 and seven days in advance on iWant beginning February 23. It will also be available on Kapuso Stream, GTV, GMA PinoyTV, and TFC.
