Byeon Woo-seok opened up about his experience working on his upcoming series Wife of a 21st Century Prince.
In an interview with GQ Korea, the actor shared that he initially felt some apprehension since it had been a while since his last acting project, but his excitement quickly took over once filming began.
"There’s a lot of excitement. At first, since it was my first time standing in front of the camera again after about a year and two or three months, I did have some worries and concerns. But once filming actually began, it felt like I had stepped into a completely different energy," he shared as per English translation.
Woo-seok also discussed how he approaches his new character. "In some scenes, I even suddenly found myself thinking, 'Ah, it might be good to try it this way,' and feeling more proactive. Everything's been great. These days, I start and end my day entirely with this project, and I’ve been gaining so much positive energy from it," he remarked.
When asked what convinced him to take on the role, he revealed that the script resonated with him immediately.
"When I read the script, there was this one impactful moment that really hit me. I can’t share exactly what it is yet, but yes, I think that part was the biggest factor in choosing the project. And even just looking at the character, there were so many emotions I could relate to. Rather than thinking, 'Can I pull this off?' the thought that stood out more was, 'I want to try this,'" he relayed.
Woo-seok will headline Wife of a 21st Century Prince alongside IU.

The plot follows Sung Hee-joo, a chaebol heiress who despite her wealth remains a commoner by status. She crosses paths with Lee Ahn, a prince who, despite his royal lineage, finds himself with nothing. Their contrasting worlds collide in a love story filled with challenges.
Woo-seok portrays Lee Ahn, the king’s second son, who has lived a largely unnoticed life. However, his world shifts drastically after crossing paths with Sung Hee-joo, a woman who reshapes his outlook on life.
IU steps into the role of Sung Hee-joo, the ambitious and sharp-minded second daughter of Korea’s most powerful conglomerate family. Though blessed with beauty and wealth, her lack of noble status complicates her otherwise perfect life, leading her toward an unforeseen bond with Prince Lee Ahn.
