Action-Drama Prince Gerald Anderson has just taken on his newest role—directing his very own series Sins of the Father.
During a special set visit interview, Gerald revealed what kind of director he is as he begins directing some of the action scenes.
“Siguro sila dapat tanungin. Kasi alam ko, nag-prepare kasi ako, naghanda ako. So, chill siguro. At yung mga artista kasi ng show na 'to ay mga magagaling lahat. So, hindi naman sila kailangan pagsabihan o i-guide masyado because they're all great actors, professional. Siguro kung sa ibang set baka yun, baka maging mahirap kapag meron kang mga matitigas na artista but I'm very blessed kasi sina JC (De Vera), sina Kuya Joko Diaz, sina LA Santos, sila yung kaeksena ko kahapon sa nakunan. But yeah, chill. Chill lang,” he shared.
However, Gerald admitted that taking on the role of director in the very series he also topbills is no easy feat.
“Mahirap kasi yung gagawin ko yung mga fight scene. And then, idi-direct ko at the same time. And then, ipe-preview ko pa. Tapos kapag may isang mali na, ma-defocus lang o yung isang goon kunwari, dapat dito siya nakahiga. Pero bakit siya nakapunta dito? Alam mo yan, uulitin pa namin. So yun yung medyo madugo talaga because as you see this whole, itong buong building ginagamit namin. So and I'm trying to finish everything at a fast pace pero maganda pa rin yung kalabasan. So, yun. Marami factors eh,” he said.
The premier leading man further shared that the behind-the-scenes work is just as challenging, which is why they are deeply grateful for all the support.
“Ang akala ng marami pag pinanood sa TV ang dali lang ang ginagawa namin or parang glitz and glamour pero mahirap. Mahirap po yung ginagawa namin. It's not a easy job para sa lahat na hindi lang sa artista, hindi lang sa director, sa everyone. Ang hirap para sa lahat. So, when we get acknowledgement from viewers or pag pinagpanood po ng tao yung show namin, sobrang nagpapasalamat kami,” he expressed.
Aside from showcasing his dramatic prowess as Samuel and the intense action scenes, Gerald also takes pride in the social relevance and awareness that the series highlights.
“Like I said, as much as possible, pag may bagong show po ako, sana may social awareness para may mauwi yung mga tao. Pag pinanood mo yung comments namin sa YouTube, puro about scamming, totoo nang nangyayari yan. Yun yung punto nun eh. Kung makabawas man kami kahit konti sa mga na-scam, yun yung mensahe ng show talaga namin. Yun yung trabaho ko as an actor and now also part-time director din sa show,” Gerald shared.
Gerald also shared that he feels even more motivated knowing that the show doesn’t just entertain, but also helps create awareness and inspire others.
“Yun yung mensahe na gusto namin, magbigay ng awareness to iwasan 'to, wag gawin 'to, ito nangyayari talaga 'to sa totoong buhay kasi pinapakita po namin through our show. And pag may social awareness yung palabas namin, mas inspired ako, mas ganado ako kahit nakakapagod na po yung ginagawa namin,” he added.
