KPop Demon Hunters voice actor Ahn Hyo-seop took time to answer fan-submitted questions in a video released by Netflix.
The Korean actor was first asked about the most memorable scene for him in the film. "I have to say it's at the beginning of the movie when the Huntr/x jumps off the plane and they start singing and they enter the stage right away. That was pretty impactful for me," he shared.
Hyo-seop also reflected on his first impression of his character, Jinu. "I never had his illustrated look. I only saw him on the script so I didn't have a clear picture of him. But he seemed like a sincere guy but he was in the wrong time at the wrong place. And you know, everyone makes mistakes."
On the qualities he admires most about Jinu, Hyo-seop relayed: "I like his looks and how he's kind of cool. Like he doesn't care too much about things. He has his own atmosphere and his own speed."
When asked about his favorite song in KPop Demon Hunters, he pointed to a pivotal moment in the story. "I have to say 'Free.' It's where Rumi and Jinu kind of like connect. As the actor who voiced acted Jinu, it kind of touched me when the song came out," he said.
One moment that particularly delighted fans, and Hyo-seop himself, was when the Business Proposal OST played in a scene. "That was a pleasant surprise. I didn't think that they would actually just put the actual original song in the movie. I thought it was really funny. And also, I thought our directors were really smart to put the whole K-Pop drama scene into the movie," he stated.
In a previous interview with My Daily, Hyo-seop shared his experience working on his first voice acting project in KPop Demon Hunters.
The Korean actor relayed that he wanted to do the project for the fans.
"I was curious about exploring a new genre and the unique process of voice acting. I also had a strong desire to create an enjoyable memory for fans overseas who have shown me so much love. The way the project conveys the message of 'love' through music and K-pop also felt very unique to me," he said as per English translation.
Hyo-seop also shared that the film's director had also personally reached out to him. "Before joining the project, director Maggie Kang sent me a letter. Through it, I could feel her warmth and her deep love for the project," he recounted.
