MANILA — TBA Studios has set an October 15 release date for its historical biopic "Quezon," the third and final installment in the studio’s acclaimed “Bayaniverse” trilogy.
Directed by Jerrold Tarog, "Quezon" follows the life of Manuel L. Quezon, the first President of the Philippine Commonwealth, and marks the highly anticipated follow-up to the box office hit 'Heneral Luna" (2015) and the critically praised 'Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral" (2018).
Jericho Rosales takes on the title role, with Tarog once again helming the project and co-writing the screenplay with Rody Vera. Production officially wrapped on June 10.
Returning cast members from the previous Bayaniverse films include Benjamin Alves as Young Quezon, Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, and Arron Villaflor and Cris Villanueva as the younger and older Joven Hernando.
Iain Glen, best known for his role as Jorah Mormont in HBO’s "Game of Thrones," joins the cast as American Governor-General Leonard Wood.
Rounding out the ensemble are Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, Karylle as Aurora Quezon, JC Santos as Manuel Roxas, Jake Macapagal as Manuel Nieto, along with Bodjie Pascua, Angeli Bayani, Jojit Lorenzo, Joross Gamboa, Therese Malvar, Ana Abad Santos, Ketchup Eusebio, and Nico Locco.
Following its Philippine theatrical debut, "Quezon" is expected to screen internationally at a later date.
