Superman stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, along with director James Gunn, took a sweet detour during their visit to the Philippines by trying to make the beloved Filipino dessert halo-halo.
In a video uploaded on Superman’s official Facebook page, the trio was guided by Filipino content creator Abi Marquez, known for her viral food content.
"Halo-halo means mix-mix, it's a shaved ice dessert," Abi explained as she introduced the colorful dish to the Hollywood guests.
The cast and director eagerly mixed ingredients such as ube, shaved ice, sweetened beans, and other toppings.
"Yours is very Christmasy, David," Gunn jokingly told the Superman actor.
The group then shared their halo-halo creations with fans at the venue.
Fans online were quick to react to the video.
"That looks soooo good. Great job gang," one fan wrote.
"The Super Filipino Dessert," another fan wrote.
The cast and crew of Superman made their way to Manila as part of the film’s international promotional tour.
On June 19, fans were treated to two Superman events, one at Opus Mall in Bridgetowne and another at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
Following their stop in the Philippines, the Superman team is set to continue the tour with appearances in Rio de Janeiro, London, Paris, and Los Angeles, among others.
During their visit to Manila, David looked back on the journey of bringing the film to life.
"We’ve been working on this movie for a long time. The responsibility has always been to James, our fearless leader; to the comics; and to the cast and crew, who dedicated years of their lives to this project. Now, the baton passes to you—our fans—and seeing your enthusiasm is truly inspiring. I’m so excited for everyone to see the movie," he stated.
Meanwhile, Rachel expressed her excitement about playing Lois Lane in the film.
"Lois Lane is a strong woman that many women can relate to. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to stand on the shoulders of so many talented actors and artists who have shaped her over the years. Thank you to everyone here for your incredible support — it means the world to us," she remarked.
