It’s been barely three months since his talent management Star Magic confirmed the breakup between Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto, officially ending their more than six-year relationship in the public eye. The Kapamilya actor recently shared with PUSH ABS-CBN that he has decided to put his personal life in the backseat starting next year.
“2026 is a year of major, major growth talaga. Focused ako sa building — building myself, building my businesses, building my career. I’ve been blessed with opportunities and ayoko sayangin. On a personal note, it’s a year of growth. Alam naman natin lahat ‘yun. We all want to settle down one day. But nasa building stage pa ako eh, so sa ngayon it would be unfair. But I’m really focused on growth. Even more sa professionalism ng building stage and the businesses. It’s more on personal growth and nonstop learning,” he told PUSH ABS-CBN during the Rekonek presscon held last December 1 in Makati City.
Apart from starting to produce projects in TV and film this year, Gerald also admits that there are plans to expand his current resort and gym businesses in the coming year. “As we speak, nagpapatayo pa ako ng isang resort. I’m producing. So those are the major highlights na mangyayari, lalo na sa 2026. Marami pang mangyayari sa 2026.”

In his Metro Manila Film Festival entry this year, Gerald’s character navigates a world that loses access to the internet ten days before Christmas. In real life, the talented actor admits why he does not want to bare his entire life online.
“Lahat ng hindi niyo nakikita sa social media and all of that, there is always something I have to keep for myself. Kasi siyempre, I’m a very private person. But pag mga ganitong presscon and I get to see ‘yung press, I try to be as open as possible. But siyempre merong mga konting kailangan matira para sa akin,” he explained.
The 36-year-old actor also shared that another one of his plans for 2026 is to do a longer hiatus from social media. “Grabe, sakto. Honestly, ang pinakahaba parang one week nga lang eh. That’s my New Year’s resolution. I think sa start ng taon next year, sa start ng January 1, for at least one month. Pero hindi counted ‘yung kailangan ko mag-post ha para sa trabaho (laughs). Pero ‘yung nag-so-scroll, one month plano ko talaga. Kasi I did one week na ‘yung talagang hindi na ako nag-so-scroll or anything, parang for some reason, gumaan ‘yung pakiramdam ko. So I think everyone should try that. ‘Yung useless scrolling, let’s try controlling that. But watch muna sana kayo ng Rekonek. Paglabas niyo ng sinehan, mag-iiba ‘yung perspective natin sa social media.”
