These were the words uttered by Kathryn Bernardo’s character in the 2019 blockbuster Hello, Love, Goodbye.
In the movie, Kathryn plays Joy, a hardworking overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Hong Kong who dreams of providing a better life for her family and, eventually, for herself. She meets Ethan, played by Alden Richards, a fellow Filipino who works as a bartender and falls in love with her.
Despite their growing affection, Joy struggles between following her personal ambitions and giving in to a love that could keep her from achieving the independence she’s been working so hard for.
