Actress and comedian Rufa Mae Quinto shared why she decided to audition to be a contestant for Your Face Sounds Familiar. During the media conference for the latest season of the ABS-CBN program earlier this week, she admitted how she wanted to get back on her feet after what’s been happening with her personal life.
Rufa Mae is one of the contestants of Your Face Sounds Familiar and will be joined by Alexa Ilacad; Pepe Herrera; Jarlo Bâse; Dia Mate; BGYO Akira; JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano; and Jason Dy.
The Kapamilya star added that she wants to be happy by making people happy through her talents. She maintained that this opportunity was given to her at a perfect time when she’s trying to go full time again in the showbiz industry.
Halos sampung taon ganun yung career ko dahil nag pamilya ako,” she reasoned out.
Rufa Mae has been in and out of the industry for the past decade due to her shift in priority–– having a family. Since her daughter, Athena Magallanes, is now much older, the celebrity mom shared that she has more time to hone her craft.
When asked about the preparations she did for the highly-anticipated show, Rufa Mae shared that she had vocal lessons and is slowly learning her old ways when it comes to being on stage. She expressed her gratitude as she was able to be given the opportunity to be one of the eight contestants of the show.

Despite it being her first time to join a contest, Rufa Mae is confident that she’ll be doing her best even though she acknowledged that the other contestants are experts.
“First time ko rin mag contest na mahirap pala kasi akala ko iba yung kakanta ka lang eh. Iba yung may judge, iba yung sasayaw, iba yung may kalaban, iba yung magagaling. Pero humanda sila,” she quipped.
Your Face Sounds Familiar is set to start its latest season this October 4 and 5. It’ll be hosted by Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario while Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano, and Ogie Alcasid will be the judges for the season.
