MANILA -- The all-female lead cast of Janella Salvador, Sue Ramirez, Kaila Estrada, and Charlie Dizon take center stage in What Lies Beneath, a new thriller-drama about friendship, truth, and the dark secrets that test their bond.
In an interview with TV Patrol's MJ Felipe on Thursday night, the cast shared what the viewers can expect from their show about four friends haunted by their past lies.
"This is centered on friendship, love, family and most of all I think ang espesyal nito because it's about womanhood, it's woman empowerment. Different situations, different kinds of women and how they approach their problems in their lives... It's a suspense and thriller ,parang ang laking part nun sa 'What Lies Beneath." Ramirez said.
Dizon agreed that the upcoming project is multi-genre, sharing that it also has comedy and action.
"So punong-puno po ito talaga. And dugtungan ko lang 'yung line na 'yon, 'yun ang nag-change sa buhay ng apat na women. So 'yun ang kailangan nilang dapat abangan at ano 'yung lie sa bawat character. May tinatago ang bawat character so I think 'yon ang dapat niyong abangan," Dizon added.
Superb performance are also expected from the upcoming series, with Jake Cuenca and JM de Guzman joining the four lead actresses.
"Bigayan kami talagang lahat. Hindi lang kaming apat siyempre kasama nga namin dito si Jake, si JM. Talagang kapag magkaeksena kami, nandoon kaming lahat. Talagang nagibigayan kami," Salvador said.
Asked what the series hopes to convey to the viewers, Estrada replied: "I feel like because this show is all about seeking truth and seeking justice, it's also the result of that, of being able to find that. And I feel like it being led by four strong women that have different personalities and are in different walks of life, I feel like that is such a strong sentiment as well as to what we're saying about womanhood also."
Under the direction of Dado C. Lumibao and Froy Allan P. Leonardo, "What Lies Beneath" also stars Jameson Blake, Yves Flores, and Race Matias.
After the interview, the official trailer of "What Lies Beneath" was aired.
"What Lies Beneath" will debut October 17 on Netflix, October 18 on iWant, and October 20 on Kapamilya Online Live, Kapamilya Channel, A2Z and TV5.
