Actress and host Anne Curtis recently fulfilled her promise to fellow It’s Showtime host and "sisterette" Vice Ganda by hosting a block screening for the latter’s drama-comedy film, And The Breadwinner Is.
Anne shared her experience on social media, posting photos with Vice and showing her support for his comeback film.
“And the Breadwinner is.... A beautiful film of the struggles of a family when it comes to making life better one day, week, month, year at time,” Anne wrote in a post.
She also shared her emotional reaction, explaining how the movie moved her deeply.
“You can expect the light heartedness just how any Filipino family pushes through each hardship—with a smile on their face but it doesn't romanticize being a breadwinner, as it shows the toll it takes of being one... Because yes, sometimes it's just one person,” she added.
She also quoted a memorable line from the film: “'Sino ba kasi nagsabi na P#$t&ng*+a kailangan isa lang' a beautiful film with beautiful storytelling, beautiful cinematography and amazing acting from EVERYONE.”

Seeing a different side of her sisterette, Anne couldn’t help but take pride in Vice's role.
“So proud of my sisterette @praybeytbenjamin (Vice) given na ung comedic timing but that one scene was delivered with so much sincerity which had me bawling my eyes out. Kitang kita nyo naman sa last slide kung paano kayo lalabas ng sinehan,” she expressed.
She concluded her post by congratulating the team, saying, “Congratulations Team And The Breadwinner is. I loved it so much. Sugod na sa mga sinehan Madlang People. A film for families that will give you realizations no matter which piece of the puzzle you are when it comes to your own family. 💘.”
In a previous episode on It’s Showtime, Vice revealed that Anne had offered to host the block screening as a way of supporting him.
“Araw-araw kinukulit niya ako na gusto niya magpa-blockscreening ng And The Breadwinner Is. Appreciate ko naman iyon. Bakit gusto mo (Anne)?” Vice said. “First time niya magoofer kasi usually wala siya.”
Anne then explained, “Feeling ko talaga ito this is such a moment for you to shine as an actor and sobrang excited ako for you, sis. Kasi kilala natin si Vice na laging nagpapatawa lalo na dito sa Showtime pero dito natin makikita yung husay niya as an artista, as an actor kaya sobra akong excited.”
Anne added, “Give na natin na may comedy pa rin ito. Hindi pa rin mawawala yung husay sa pagiging komedyante na actor pero excited ako dito kasi first time natin mawiwitness yung husay mo hindi lang sa comedy pati sa drama na rin.”
During the block screening, Anne was joined by fellow It’s Showtime hosts Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, along with former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Jas Descales and Jarren Garcia, fashion stylist Liz Uy, model Georgina Wilson, and the It’s Showtime staff.
“Grabe!!! Hindi ko inexpect to cry like that from Vicey!!! @praybeytbenjamin Sooo sooo good!!!! Galing galing 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ so proud of Vicey!!!” Liz commented.
Actress Agot Isidro also shared her thoughts after watching the film.
“Ang sakit sa throat yung pagpigil ng emotion. Story ng pamilya, at makaka-relate ang lahat. Daming takeaway ko dito: Pag-intindi sa iba at ang need na pangalagaan ang sarili. Selflessness, to a fault din. Forgiveness. Redemption. Value of time. Value for others & oneself. Congratulations, Meme! And sa iba pang mga kaibigan ko, sarap ninyong panoorin lahat!” she said.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Kim and Paulo also praised Vice for his dramatic performance in the film.
“Vice Ganda, wala na. Comedy, horror, and drama. Grabe ang drama ma, may mga lines na talagang ang sakit po. Parang totoo siya. Pinapatamaan nyo po ba ako? Pero yung iyak ko talaga nagulat talaga ko na ang isang Vice Ganda ay nagpapaiyak na,” Kim said.
Paulo added, “Nakakatuwa dahil tumatagos sa puso yung mga eksena, I'm sure lahat ng tumataguyod ng pamilya or may sinusuportahan na tao sa buhay nila ay makakarelate dito.”
